AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING A HEARING ON PROPERTIES
LOCATED IN THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, BELONGING TO VAR-
IOUS OWNERS, AND AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FINDING THE MATERIALS RF'MAINING IN THE PREMISES TO
CONSTITUTE A NUISANCE AND TO BE A FIRE HAZARD TO LIFE
AND PROPERTY AND A HAZARD TO THE LIFE AND WELFARE
OF THE INHABITANTS OF TF-IE AREA, AND ORDERING SAID
RUBBISH, LUMBER AND RETUSE FROM THE STRUCTURES TO BE
TORN DOWN AND REMOVED FROM THE PREMISES, IN ORDER TO
ABATE SUCH NUISANCE.
WHEREAS, a public hearing was called to order by the Mayor
of the City of Paris, James M. Brunette, on the lOth day of October,
1977, at 7:00 o'clock P. M. , in the Council Room, City Hall, in the
City of Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Building Hazard
Inspection Committee fixed a date for hearing on the resolution
referred to the Committee by the City Council on June 13, 1977,
and said Committee fixed said hearing at 10:00 o'clock A. M. , on
the 26th day of August, 1977, and the hearing was had thereon.
That proper notice was given to the owner or owners of the struc-
tures located at the following addresses:

353 Graham Street, Lot 3, City Block 43
833 3rd Street, N. W. , Lot 11, City Block 96
770 West Henderson Street, Lot 9, Block l, Jones Addition
780 West Henderson Street, Lot 11, City Block 100C
1434 Plum Street, Lot 4, Block 1, P. W. Harrison's 9th Addition
1600 West Long Street, Lot 4, Block 2, Maxey Addition

Thax at said hearing the Committee listed the structures involved
and introduced pictures of the various portions of the structures
and various portions of the premises involved and a list of dis -
crepancies in the structures located thereon. That the Committee
found that each of the above structures were in such state of de-
terioration and dilapidation as to create a serious fire hazard to
life and propert_y and that each of said buildings was dilapidated
and was dangerous to life and property and dangerous structures
to life and property. That said buildings are in such a state of
dilapidation and decay that none of said structures are capable of
repair. It is further found tliat the condition of the premises and
structures involved were such that the Committee recommended
to the City Council that they be declared a nuisance and that the
owners thereof be ordered by the City Council to tear down and
remove the same from the lots involved. That said Committee
filed a complete report of its hearing and its findings with the
City Clerk of the City of Paris on the lOth day of October, 1977.
WHEREAS, the City Council has fully heard and considered
the testimony presented upon the hearing and a complete transcript
of the testimony reported by the Building Hazard Inspection
Committee; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:

are a nuisance, and they are hereby declared a nuisance, in that they
are dangerous to life and property, and that the same constitute a
fire hazard to life and property, and that the respective owners are
hereby ordered to abate such nuisane within thirty (30) days from the
date hereof. The City Clerk is directed to furnish the owners a
copy of this ordinance, in the event the addresses of said owners
are known, and in the event the respective owners refuse to comply
with this ordinance, the City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, is hereby di-
rected to proceed to enforce this ordinance by injunction in the
District Court of Lamar Count:y, Texas, as provided for in
Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paris.
