1. Meeting called to order by Maria Pope, Main Street Coordinator
at 3:05 P.M.
Present: Bill Payne, Barbara Wilson, Suzy Harper, and Scott McDowell
Absent:
Dwight Chaney, Karen Wilkerson, Anne Wyche,
Linda Suarez, Terry Davis, David House
2. Discussed Planning Session One
Maria reported that planning session one went well and the Board decided
not to reorganize the Downtown Association.
3. Discussed Main Street Fundraising and Accounting Processes
Maria reported and confirmed that if we have an approved fundraising event,
Gene Anderson can arrange it so that the funds raised by Main Street-are
used for Main Street.
4. Discussed TxDot Historical Signs
Maria Pope reported that TxDot approved the request for signs outlining the
historic district.
5. Discussed TxDot Traffic Poles in the Historic District
Maria Pope reported that TxDot received requests for options on painting
poles and will submit it to their Austin Offices. If options are granted, then it
will be submitted to City Officials for a request of approval.
6. Discussed Historic Commission and Status of Projects
Maria Pope reported project status- The THC submitted two
photo/architectural renderings of the old Wise Building and Phil Whitaker's
Pawn Shop. It was reported that Ted Brown's building has not been
completed. Barbara Wilson requested info on repairing Terra Cotta damage.
Maria Pope reported that Bill Lindstrom at the THC is still gathering data for
his report.
7. Discussion of Street Scape
The Board discussed a newsletter that will be distributed in June for the
Downtown Merchants and that it will announce a meeting for July 12th. Scott
McDowell recommended the Plaza Theatre because it is within walking
distance for most merchants.
8. Discussed Parking Database
Maria Pope displayed an aerial of the Historic District and marked areas of
parking.
Barbara Wilson suggested a parking incentive.
9. Discussed Newsletter
Maria Pope displayed a sample newsletter that falls within the budget-if
approved.

Comments and Suggestions
Suzy Harper displayed sample colors for a banner she is having designed.
Bill Payne reported on his recent trip to a tax credit seminar in Chicago.
Bill Payne reported that the Church Street Neighborhood Association met
and had a good turnout.
