AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE F,xTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS2 PARIS2 TFXAS, AND THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 41.7412 ACRES,
MORE OR LESS 2 WHICH IS LFSS THAN TFN PER CENT (10%) OF THE
TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH
SAID TERRITORY LIES AATACFNT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESFNT
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND PRO-
VIDING ZONING CLASSIFICATIONS FOR TRACTS 2 AND 3.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, where all interested persons were
provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed
annexation of the following described territory:
TRACT 1: Situated in the County of Lamar and
State of Texas, and described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the C/L of Highway 271
East, said point being Highway Station No. 132+62.4,
also being in the City Limits line described by the
City Ordinance #1816, dated February 3, 1967.
THENCE North 21°31' E with the present City
Limit Line a distance of 50 feet to a point in the
North R.O.W. of Highway 271 East;
THENCE S. 68°29' East a distance of 308.8 feet
to a point, said point being the P.C. o.f a curve,
said curve has a radius of 5779 feet, D= 1°02' and
an internal angle = 150 27' to the right;
THENCE along said curve a distance of 1559 feet
to the P.T. of said curve;
THENCE S. 530 02' East a distanc e of 3412.2 feet
to a point, said point being Highway Department
Station 185+42.4, which point is 5280 feet from
point of beginning;
THIIVC E South 36°58' W a distan ce of 100 feet to
a point, said point being in the South R.O.W. of
Highway 271 East;
THIIVCE N. 53°02' W. a distance of 3426.2 feet
to a point, said point being the P.T. of a curve
having R= 5679 feet, D= 10 O1' and an internal
angle = 15°27' to the left;
THENCE along said curve a distance of 1531 feet
to the P.C. of the curve, said P.C. is in the South
B.L. of Highway 271 East;
THENCE N. 68°29' W. along the South R.O.W. of
Highway 271 East, a distance of 322.8 feet to a
point in the South R.O.W. of Highway 271 East;
THENCE N. 21°31' E. a distance of 50 feet to
the point of beginning, containing in all 12.1212
Acres, and being a part of Joseph Leach and John W.
Williams Headright Surveys.
TRACT 2: Situated in the County of Lamar, State
of Texas, and a part of the Isaac Cruise Survey, and
being described as follows:
B EGINNING at a point in the South Boundary Line
of U. S. Highway No. 82, said point being the
Northeast corner of a 9.64 acre tract of land con-
veyed Central Freight Lines Inc. by deed recorded
in Book 523, Page 613, Deed Records of said County
and State, said point also being in the West City
Limit Line as established by Ordinance No. 1739,
dated August 9, 1965;
THENCE West with the South Boundary Line of
U. S. Highway No. 82, a distance of 545 feet to a
point for corner, said point being the Northwest
corner of said Central Freight Lines Inc. 9.64
acre tract;
THENCE South a distance of 775 feet to a
point for corner, said point being the Southwest
corner of Central Freight Li:nes Inc. 9.64 acre
tract;
THENCE East along the South Boundary Line of
said 9.64 acre tract a distance of 538.5 feet to
a point in the existing City Limit Line, said
point being the Southeast corner of Central Freight
Lines Inc. 9.64 acre tract;
THENC E North O°30' East along the existing
City Limit Line and the East Boundary Line of said
Central Freight Lines Inc. 9.64 acre tract, a
distance of 775 feet to the place of beginning,
and containing 9.64 acres of land.
TRACT 3: Situated in the County of Lamar axld
the State of Texas, and a part of the Joseph Aznes
and John Herrington Surveys, and described as
follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the present City
Limits line that now exists in the South Right-of-
Way of Loop 286 N. W. as described in Annexation
Ordinance No. 1964, dated May 11, 1970. Said
point being the N.W.C. of Lot #8, B1ock #355,
conveyed by the Paris, Texas Industrial Foundation,
Inc. to the Pennsylvania Tire Co., recorded Book 360,
Page 241, Deed Records, Lamar County, Texas; also
being the N.E.C. of a tract of land conveyed by the
Paris, Texas Industrial Foundation, Inc. to the
Union Metal Manufacturing Company, an Ohio
Corporation, recorded Book 383, Page 203, Deed
Records, Lamar County, Texas;
THENC E S. 68000' W. along the existing city
limits which is the South Boundary Line of Loop
286 N. W., a distance of 995.9 feet to a point,
said point being the N.W.C. of the Union Metal
Manufacturing Company tract;
THIIVCE S. 220 00' E. a distance of 874.8 feet
to a point, said point being the S.W.C. of said
tract of laxld;
THENCE N. 68°00' E. a distance of 995.9 feet
to a point, said point being the S.E.C. of said
tract of land;
THENCE N. 220 00' W. along the existing city
limits established by Ordinance #1964, dated
May 11, 1970, a distance of 874.8 feet to the
point of beginning, containing in all 19.98 acres.
was held at Paris, Texas, on the llth day of September, 1972,
which date is not more tha,n twenty nor less than ten days prior
to the institution of annexation proceedings; and,
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a
newspaper having general circulation in the City of Paris, Texas,
and in the above described territory, on the 27th day of August,
1972, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days
prior to the date of such public hearing; and,
WI-iEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas, on the first day of January, 1972, was
12,209.9140 acres; and,
W"r3EREAS, the population of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
is in excess of 5,000 and less than 25,000 inhabitants; and,
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the
extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas;
and,
WHFREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to
and adjoins the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
WHERFAS, the above described territory contains 12.1212
acres in Tract 1, 9.64 acres in Tract 2 and 19.98 acres in
Tract 3, for a total of 41.7412 acres, more or less, which when
added to other property annexed in the year 1972 is less than
ten per cent (107o) of the present acreage contained in the cor-
porate limits of the City of Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the above described Tracts 2 and 3 should be
properly zoned as of the date of annexation; NOW, THER FFORE,
BE IT OKDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 1. The following described land and territory
lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
is hereby added and annexed to the City of Paris,Paris, Texas,
and said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be in-
cluded within the boundary limits of the City of Paris, Texas,
and the present boundary limits of said city, at the various
points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are
altered and amended so as to include said area within the cor-
porate limits of the City of Paris, Texas, to-wit:
TRACT 1: Situated in the County of Lamar and
State of Texas, and described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the C/L of Highway 271
East, said point being Highway Station No. 132+62.4,
also being in the City Limits line described by the
City Ordinance #18166 dated February 3, 1967.
THENCE North 21 31' E with the present City
Limit Line a distance of 50 f eet to a point in the
North R.O.W. of Highway 271 East;
THENC E S. 68°29' East a distance of 308.8 feet
to a point, said point being the P.C. of a curve,
said curve has a radius of 5779 feet, D= 1°02' and
an internal angle = 15°27' to the right;

THENCE N. 22°00' W. along the existing city
limits established by Ordinance #1964, dated
May 11, 1970, a distance of 874.8 feet to the
point of beginning, containing in all 19.98 acres.
Section 2. The above described territory and area so
annexed shall be a part of the City of Paris, Texas, and the
property so added hereby sha.ll bear its pro rata part of the
taxes levied by the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and the in-
habitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and
privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts,
ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas.
Sect:ion 3. The above described Tracts 2 and 3 are hereby
annexed under zoning classifications provided for in Zoning
Ordinance No. 1710 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, as
follows :

Section 4. It is hereby declared to be the intention of
the City Council of the City of Paris that the sections, para-
graphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance are
severable, and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or
section of this ordinance shall be declared unconstitutional
or invalid by the valid judgment or decree of any court of com-
petent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality or invalidity
shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sen-
tences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance, since the
same would have been enacted by the City Council without the
incorporation in this ordinance of any unconstitutional or in-
valid phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs or sectio ns. It
is further hereby decl ared to be th e intention of the City
Council of the City of Paris to exclude any area or areas de-
scribed in the description of the property to be annexed,
which are not within said City's jurisdiction to annex and
that such area or areas should be carved out of the description
of the property herein described by the valid judgment or de-
cree of any court of competent juris diction, in order that such
area or areas would not cause this anne xation ordinance to be
found to be invalid, voidable or void.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be published and passed
in the manner provided in Article II, Section 7, of the Charter
of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas.
