PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

5:30 O'CLOCK P.M.
The regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday, May 7, 2012,
was called to order at 5:28 p.m. by Dennis Chalaire, Chairman.
A. The following members were present:
Dennis Chalaire
James Price
Jerry Akers
Keith Flowers
Richard Hunt
B. The following members were absent:
Keith Barnett
Holland Harper
C. Also present were Shawn Napier, Director of Engineering, Planning and
Development; and Jeanna Scott, Assistant Building Official.
2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (April 2, 2012)
Motion was made by James Price, seconded by Keith Flowers to approve the meeting
minutes for April 2, 2012. Motion carried 5-0.
3. Public hearing to provide an opportuniry to present comments and written evidence and
consideration ofand action on recommending to the City Council the adoption ofproposed
amendments to the Future Land Use Plan Map as follows:
A. That the future land use recommended for the property located on Lot 12, City
Block 259, being located in the 700 Block of North Collegiate Drive be changed
from Retail to Low-Density Residential.
Public hearing was declared open.
a. The following individuals spoke in favor of the petition.
Gene Anderson, 2615 Oak Lane, Reno, Texas, spoke in favor of the
petition. Mr. Anderson stated he is representing East Paris Baptist

Church. They are trying to change the zoning on a piece of
property they own that abuts the current church's property from
planned development to match the church's zoning which is single
family two. The church is planning to have additional parking on
that property.
b. No one spoke in opposition to the petition.
Public hearing was declared closed.
Motion was made by James Price, seconded by Keith Flowers to approve the Future Land
Use Plan Map change to Low-Density Residential. Motion carried 5-0.
4. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of East Paris Baptist
Church for a change in zoning from a Planning and Development District (PDaI -b)
Commercial Center or Housing DevelopmenC/Community Unit Development to a
One-Family Dwelling District No. 2(SF-2), on Lot 12, City Block 259, being located in the
700 Block of North Collegiate Drive.
A. Public hearing was declared open.
The following individual spoke in favor of the petition.
Gene Anderson, 2615 Oak Lane, Reno, Texas spoke in favor of the petition.
Mr. Anderson had no additional comments.
2. No one spoke in opposition to the petition.
B. Public hearing was declared closed.
Motion was made by Jerry Akers, seconded by Richard Hunt to approve the zoning
change. Motion carried 5-0.
5. Meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
