2036 ORD FIXING TAX RATE AND TAX LEVY AND LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXES FOR COP FOR 1971ORDINANC E NO. 2036 AN ORDINANC E FIXING THE TAX RATE AND THE TAX LEVY AND LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXFS FOR THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, FOR THE YEAR 1971, ITPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE SAID CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, IN CONFORMITY WITH THE CHARTER PROVI- SIONS AND SAID INCONFLICTIHER WITH. ORDINANCES OR Wf-IEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, has heretofore approved the final report of the Board of Equalization heretofore appointed by the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, wherein said Board of Equalization finds and fixes the value of all property situ- ated within the City of Paris, Texas, subject to ad valorem taxes, such total valuation being the sum of $33,532,315.00; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, the Manager tofore submitted to the City Council, a p pos revenues of the City and the expenditures for the conduct of the affairs thereof, providing a complete financial plan for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1971, and ending June 30, 1972; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore, by ordinance adopted the budget appropriating from ad valorem taxes the following sums, to-wit: General Fund Debt Service Fund $664,000.00 6,100.00 NOW, THEREFOR E, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS : efor Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby ~e 20 on the year 1971 and ordered to be co11ea00t the$ assessed each and every ONE HUNDR ED DOLLARS ($100 ) of valuation of all property of every description subject to tax- ation within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, and that said tax so levied shall be distributed and apportioned as follows: For the payment of CURRENT EXPFNSES of the City Government of the City of Paris, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris an d subject to taxation, a tax of (of which $0.010 will be for the $2.18 operation of the Paris Municipal Band). For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for CITY OF Pt3RIS, TEXAS, RFSURFACING BONDS, Series 1936 on each an d every One Hundx ed Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the 0,016 City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, ABATTOIR BONDS, Series 1936, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.004 $2.20 Section lA. That on any delinquent taxes collected for years prior to the year 1971, during the budget year 1971-72, the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to apportion the debt service collections on the basis of the above and .foregoing distribution for the respective debt ser- vice funds. Section 2. Ther e is also levied and ordered to be collected against each and every person, firm or corporatio n pursuing an occupation within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, except where levy of same is expressly forbidden by general law, an occupation tax and license tax equal to one- half (1/2) of that levied by the State of Texasagainst such occupation. This provision applies to each and every occupa- tion upon which the State of Texas levies a tax and fixes a license fee and only to such occupations. Section 3. The City Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Paris is hereby directed to assess, extend and enter upon the rolls of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, for the current taxable year, the amounts and rates herein levied and to keep a current account of same, and the taxes herein levied shall be collected as provided by the ordinances and the Charter of the City of Paris, Texas, and the laws of the State of Texas; and when so collected, same shall be depos- ited in the depository of the City of Paris to be distributed in accordance with ordinance. Section 4. Current ad valorem taxes for the year 1971, paid on or prior to December 31, 1971, shall be subject to discounts as follows: Three per cent if paid on or before October 31, 1971; Two per cent if paid after October 31, 1971, and on or before November 30, 1971; One per cent if paid after November 30, 1971, and on or before December 31, 1971. Section 5. Al1 ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. This ordinance shall be and remain in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval by the City Council of the City of Paris. Read, approved and passed this 12th day of July, 1971. W.
