1979 ORD AMENDING CODE OF ORDINANCES OF COP REGULATING PRESENCE OF MINORS UNDER TWENTY-ONE YEARS ON PUBLIC STREETORD3NANCE NO. 1979 , AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCFS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, REGULATING THE PRESENCE OF MINORS UNDFR THE AGE OF TWENTY-ONE (21) YFARS ON PUBLIC STR EETS, IN AUTOMOBILFS AND IN OTHER PLACES BETWEEN CERTAIN HOURS; DEFINING DUTIES OF PARENTS OR OTHERS IN CAR E OF MINORS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCFS OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFEC- TIVE DATE OF OCTOBER 1, 19700 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. Loitering of Minors Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any minor under the age of twenty-one (21) years to loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play or operate or occupy a motor vehicle in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots or other unsupervised places, between the hours of 12:30 A. M. and 4:30 A. M., local time, provided, however, that the provisions of this section do not apply to a minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of said minor. Section 2. Responsibility of Parents. It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of a minor under the age of twenty-one (21) years, to knowingly permit such minor to loiter, idle, wander, stroll or play or to operate or occupy a motor vehicle in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, or other public grounds, public places and public buildings, places of amusement and entertain- ment, vacant lots, or other unsupervised places, between the hours of 12:30 A. M. and 4:30 A. M., local time, provided, how- ever, that the provisions of this section do not apply when the minor is accompanied by his or her parent, gua,rdian, or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor, or where the minor is upon an emergency errand or legitimate business directed by his or her parent, guardian or other person having the care and custody of the minor. Section 3. Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, an d upon conviction shall be fined in a sum not to exceed Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars. Section 4. Repeal of Conflicting Ordinances. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5. Effective Date. This or dinance shall become effective on October 1, 1970. Section 6. Uniform Numbering. The provisions of this ordinance shall be included and incorporated in the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, as an addition or amendment thereto,and shall be appropriately renumbered to conform to the uniform numbering system of the Code.
