WHEREAS9 it has been called to the attention of the City Council of the
City of Paris that the property between West Sherman Street and W-ast Austin
Street and between 1 st Street, S, W, and 2nd Street, S. W. , known as the
Market Square, was deeded to the City of Paris for the specific purpose of
furnishing a place for agricultural product producers to have a public place in
which to display and vend their products; and,
WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the City of Paris that
certain abuses have occurred in thP use of the produce marketing area de-
scribed and created in Sections 4a 5, and 6 of Ordinance No. 1382; NOW~

BE I.T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COU:VCiL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
That Ordinance No. 1382, passed by the City Council on August 13, A. D.,
1956, Sections 4, 5, and 6, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Section 1. That no products shall be vended from the Farmerls Produce
Marketing Area, except farm products, that is, products grown on the soil.
That the display or sale of any goods, wares and merchandise, other than farm
products, is hereby prohibited at all times and at all hours in the Farmerts
P-roduce Marketing A.rea, and that the same is hereby prohibited on any other
portion of the Market Square.
Section 2, That all farm products displayed for sale in the FarmerEs
Produce M,-a.rketing Area shall be displayed from a registered motor vehicle,
including a trailer. That no products sha11, be displayed by placing the same
on temporary racks, shelves, or placing the same upon the pavement or con-
crete. That no metered parking space shall be taken up by products displayed
on a rack or on the concrete, but the same must be displayed from a registered
motor vehicl,e.
Section 3. That no person, firm, or corporation shall park any motor
vehicle, or other object, in any metered parking space, in the Farmerts
Produce Marketing Area, unless the same is being used to display merchandise
and to sell merchandise therefrom.
Section 4. It is not the intention of this ordinance to repeal any portion
of Ordinance No. 1382, but to add to and supplement the same and to correct
present abuses occurring in the Farmerts Produce M&rketing Area.
Section 5, Any person, firm, or corporation, who shall violate any pro-
vision of this amendment shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
shall be assessed a penalty of not less than Three ($3.00) Dollars nor more
than Twenty-Five ($25. 00) Dollars.
Section 6. A11 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section 7. This ordinance shall become effective on the 22nd day of
November, 1965.
