ORDTNANCE NO. 1761 <br />AN ORDZNANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1274 AND OR.DINANCE <br />NO. 1612, ELECTRICAL ORDINANCES, HERETOFORE PASSED BY THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY QF PARIS; ADOPTING THE 1965 NATIONAL <br />ELECTRICAL CODE, WiTH CERTAIN LIMITATIONS AND EXCEPTIONS; PRO- <br />VIDTNG FOR EXCEPTIONS TO 210-22, SUBSECTION (b), WITH REFERENCE <br />TO RECEPTACLE OUTLETSs EXCEPTING FROM THE 1965 COi7E THE <br />FOLLOrVING: SERVICE ENTRANCE CABLES; ALL SERVICE ENTRANCE <br />CABLES FROM THE METER SO"CKET TO THE PANEL SHALL BE INSTALLED <br />IN EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS: (1) ALL DISCONNECTS TO BE LO- <br />C.ATED BACK OF 'I'HE METER .AND INSIDE OF THE WALL WITH CO'_VDTJIT <br />NIPPLEs (2) EACH SERVICE ENTRANCE SHAL.L BE PLACED IN CONDUIT <br />FROM THE METER SOI:.KET 'TO THE PANEL WITH NO M.AIN DISCONNECT <br />AT THE METER, (3) ALL SERVICE CABLE FROM THE METER SOCKET TO <br />THE 1vIAIN DISCON.NECT SHALL BEEIVCLO,aED IN CONDUIT; THE MINIMUIVI <br />SIZE DISCONNECT SHALL BE 50 AMP; SERVICE PANEL BREAKER.S - <br />BRE.AKERS KNOW',~ AS PIGGY-BACK, TANDUMS, TWINS, THINS, AND ANY <br />OTHER OF THIS TYPE BREAKER, ARE HEREBY PROHIBITED O'_V ANY NE"vV <br />OR REPAIR IN5TALLATIONS; PROVIDING THAT ALL TRAILER HOUSES <br />SHALL HAVE A DRIVEN GROUND QR WATER PIPE GROUND COiVNECTED <br />TO TEiE TR.AILER HOUSE AND HAVE POLARIZED PLUG INS; THAT SECTION <br />9 OF ORDINANCE Nt7, 1274 BE AMLNDED TO PROVIDE r OR ANNUAL LI- <br />CElVSE FEE FOR AN ELEC TRICAL CONTRAC TOR OF $100. 00 FOR THE FIRST <br />YEARS LICENSE AND A FEE OF $25. 00 FOR E.ACH RENEW AL FOR E.ACH <br />YE.AR THEREAFTER; PROVIDING FOR A PE',VALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br />That Ordinance No. 1274 and Ordinance No. 1612, heretofore passed <br />by the City Council of the City of Paris, be, and the same are hereby amended <br />as follows: <br />Section l. That the 1965 National Electrical Code, governing installa- <br />tions and wiring of electric installations, together with all subsequent amend- <br />ments thereto, are hereby adopted by the City of Paris, Texas, with the <br />following limitations and exceptions: <br />(1) Section 210-22, Subsection (b) of said National Electrical Code <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />That on al], dwelling type occupancies, in every kitchen, dining <br />room., breakfast room, living room, parlor, library, den, sun- <br />roomg recreation room, and bedroom, receptacle outlets shall <br />be installed so that no point along the floor line in any useable <br />wall space is more than 6 feet, measured horizontal].y from an <br />outlet in that space, including any useable wall space 2 feet <br />wide or greater and the wall space occupied by sliding panels <br />in exterior walls. The receptacle outlets shall, insofar as <br />practicable, be spaced equal distancesapart. Receptacle out- <br />lets in floors shall not be counted as part of the required num- <br />ber of receptacle outlets unless located close to the wall. <br />(2) Service Entrance Cables: All service entrance cables from <br />the meter socket to the panel shall be installed in either of <br />the following three ways: <br />(a) The disconnect shall be located back of the meter in <br />inside of wall with conduit nipple. <br />(b) If the service entrance cable is placed in conduit from <br />the meter socket to the panel, no main disconnect shall be <br />required at the meter. <br />
