AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC
HEARING ON THE PROP0,3E>> ANNEX.ATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY
THE CITY OF PARIS,~ TEX.AS, AND AU`THORIZiNG AND 7IRECTING THE
MAYOR TO PUBLISH NOTICE cJF SUCH PUBLIC HE.ARING.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY O:r PARISg
TEXAS:
Section 1. That on the 24th day of January, A. D., 1966, at 7:00 o'tclock
P. M., in the City Council Chamber of the City Ha11 of the City of Paris, Texas,
the City Council will hold a public hearing giving all interested per sons the
right to appear and be heard on the proposed annexation by the City of Paris,
Texas of the following described property, to -wit:
Situated in the County of Lamar and State of Texas, and being a
part of the George W. Cox Survey, and being all of the two tracts of
land, one of which was conveyed to UARCOs INGe by Westinghouse
Electric Corporation, by deed dated May 1. 1956, recorded in Book
350, Page 31, of the Lamar County Deed Records, and one tract
conveyed to UARi,O., INC„ by the Paris Junior College District, by
deed dated January 3, 1956, recorded in Book 347, Page 256, of the
Lamar County Deed Records, reference to both of wnich deeds is here
made for all necessary purposes;
Said property is further generally described:
Beginning at the N. E. Corner of the tract conveyed to UARCO, INC.
by W estinghouse, a point in the South Boundary Line of U. S. Highway
271 and being the present N. W. Corner of a tract of land now owned by
Westinghouse Electric Corporation;
Thence in a Southerly direction with the W. B. Line of the present
Westinghouse property to the fence on the North Boundary Line of the
Right of Way of the Texas & Pacific Railway;
Thence in a W esterly direction with the North Boundary Line of
said Railway Right of Way to the S. W. Corner of the Paris Junior
College to UARCO9 INC. tract, a stake in the E. B. Line of a tract now
owned by Paris Junior College;
Thence Northerly with the E. B. Line of the Paris Junior College
tract and the W. B. Line of a tract conveyed to UARCQ by Paris Junior
College to a stake in the S. B. Line of U. S, Highway 271;
Thence in anEasterly direction with the S. B. Line of U. S. Highway
271 to the place of beginning.
It being the intention to describe above alI of the property owned by
UARCO, INC. lying between Westinghouse Electric Corporation and the
Paris Junior College property and lying South of U, S. Highway 271 and
the North Line of the Right of Way of the Texas & Pacific Railroad.
Section 2. The Mayor of the City of Paris, Texas is hereby authorized
and directed to cause notice of such pa.blic hearing to be published once in the
newspaper having general circulation in the City and in the above described
territory not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to
the date of such public hearing, all in accordance with the Municipal
Annexation Act (Chapter 160, Acts af the 58th Legislature, Regular Session,
1963; compiled as Article 970a, Vernon2s Texas Civil Statutes).
Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect iminsdiately upon
passage.
