Schenk, City Attorney Karl Louis, Chief of Police Officer Deployment (Composition) July 6, 2001 A N D U M We need to revise our city ordinance since we have received 6 grant job positions in the last two years. Three of these positions are from the Cops Fast (Narcotics Officers) and three are from the Cops in Schools grant. This ordinance needs to be updated to reflect our current allocation of manpower. The ordinance should reflect that we now have allocated: 1 Chief of Police and 66 members for a total of 67 officers, classified as follows: 1 Chief of Police 1 Asst. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 26-1 OF SAID CODE, PROVIDING FOR EXPANSION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That Section 26-1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 26-1. Composition of department. "The police department of the city shall be composed of the chief of police, and sixty- six (66) members classified as follows: "(1) One (1) assistant chief. "(2) Three (3) police lieutenants. "(3) Ten (10) police sergeants. "(4) Three (3) police corporals. "(5) Forty-nine (49) police privates." Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 3. That this ordinance shall become effective on July 9, 2001.
