AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1495 OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS, PA5SED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 9TH DAY OF
NOVEMBER, 1959, AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1594, PAS5ED BY
THE CITY COUNCIL QN JULY 9, 1962; REGULATING THE SPEED OF M4-
TOR VEHICLES UPON THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF PARI5, LAMAR
COI7NTY, TEXA5; PRE5CRIBING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION HEREOF;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCE5 AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CaN-
FLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CQUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
5ection 1. That Ordinance No. 1495 and Ordinance No. 1$94~ be, and
the same are hereby amended, by designating herein speeds for certain areas
within the City Limits, recently annexed to the City of Paris, by adding to
Ordinance No. 1594 the fallowing portions of highways located within the City
of Paris:
(a) It shall be unlawful for any persan to operate or drive any motor
or other vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of that specified for the
following streets and portions of streets:
(1) On Clarksville Street (U. S. Highway 271) Easterly from the
Old City Limit Line to the T. & P. Railway Right of W ay,
at the Under Pass, a distance of 0.625 miles a speed limit
of 50 miles per hour at all times as evidenced by the
attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part
hereof.
(2) On Lamar Avenue (U. S. Highway 82 East) Easterly from
the Old East City Limit Line to 600 feet beyond the center
line of the outside loop of Loop 286, a distance of 0.385
miles a speed limit of 50 miles per hour at alI times, as
evidenced by the attached plan which is hereby approved
and made a part hereof.
(3) On Bonham Street (U. S. Highway 82 W est) from the Old City
Limit Line Eastward to the present City Limit Line, a
distance of 0.462 miles a speed limit of 50 miles per hour
at all times as evidenced by the attached plan which is hereby
approved and made a part hereof.
(4) On Farm -to -Market Road 195, from the Old City Limit Line
North Eastward to a point 0.07 miles North East of Loop
286, a speed limit of 40 miles per hour, and North Eastward
to the present City Limit Line a distance of 0. 148 miles a
speed limit of 50 miles per hour, as shown by the attached
plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof.
(5) On 19th Street, N. W. , Northward from the Old City Limit
Line to the present City Limit Line a speed limit of 45
miles per hour.
(6) On Farm-to -Market Road 79 leading W est where the same
leaves 19th Street, N. W. to the present City Limit Line
a speed of 60 miles per hour in daytime and 55 miles per
hour at night a distance of 0. 260 miles as shown by the
attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part
hereof.
(7) Qn Farm-to-Mari:et Road 137, an extension of 19th Street,
S. W, , South and South W esterly from the Old City Limit
Line to the paint where said highway turns W cst, when
travelling South to such point, a speed limit of 40 miles
per hour; thence South and mostly West to the North
Boundary Line of the T. & P. Railway track, the present
City Limit Line, a speed limit of 60 miles per hour in
daytime and 55 miles per hour at night. When travelling
North Easterly and North from the North Boundary Line of
the T. & P. Railway Right of Way, which is the present
City Limit Line, Northeasterly, a distance of 0, 103 miles,
a speed limit of 60 miles per hour in daytime and 55 miles
per hour at night. When travelling North Easterly to a point
where the highway turns North, a distance of 0. 200 miles,
a speed limit of 45 miles per hour, as evidenced by the
attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part
hereof, and from the above point, North, a distance of
0.543 miles to the old City Limit Line, a speed limit of
40 miles per hour.
SPction 2. Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a
fine not exceeding Two Hundred ($200, 00) Dollars.
Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinaizce shall become effective on the 25th day of
March, A. D, , 1963,
