1625 ORD AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 1495 OF COPORDINANCE NO, 1625
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1495 OF THF, CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO, 1594, AND AMENDING OR-
DINANCE NO, 1624, REGULATING THE SPEED OF MOTOR VEHICLES
UPON THE STREET5 OF THE CITY OF PARI5, LAMARC7DUNTY, TEXAS;
PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION HEREOF; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFEGTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
5ection 1, That Ordinance No. 1495, Ordinance Noo 1594, and Ordinance
No. 1624, be, and the same are hereby amended9 by designating herein speeds
for certain areas within the City Limits, recently annexed to the City of Paris,
by adding to Ordinance No, 1594 the following portions of highways located
within the City of Paris:
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive any motor
or other vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of that specified for the
following streets and portions of streets:
(1) On Clarksville Street (U, S. Highway 271) Easterly from the
Old City Limit Line to the T. & P. Railway Right of W ay,
at the Under Pass, a distance of 0.625 miles a speed limit
of 50 miles per hour, at all times as evidenced by the
attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part
her eofe
(2) On Lamar Avenue (U. S. Highway 82 East) Easterly from
the C31d East City Limit Line to 600 feet beyond the center
line of the outside loop of Laop 286, a distance of 0, 385
miles a speed limit of 50 miles per hour at all times, as
evidenced by the attached plan which is hereby approved
and made a part hereof,
(3) On Bonham Street (U, S. Highway 82 West) from the Old City
Limit Line Westward to the present City Limit Line, a
distance of 0.462 miles a speed limit of 50 miles per hour
at all times as evidenced by the attached plan which is hereby
approved and made a part hereof,
(4) On Farm -to -Market Road 195, from the Old City Limit Line
North Eastward to a point 0, 07 miles North East of Loop
286, a speed limit of 40 miles per hour, and North Eastward
to the present City Limit Line a distance of 0.052 miles a
speed limit of 50 miles per hour, as shown by the attached
plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof.
(5) On 19th Street, N. W, , Northward from the Old City Limit
Line to the present City Limit Line a speed limit of 45
miles per hour,
(6) On Farm-to-Market Road 79 leading North and West from the
City of Paris, beginning at the Old City Limit Line on said
Farm-to-Market Road, which is also known as 19th Street,
N. Wa, and continuing North and West with said Farm-to-
Market Road to where said Farm-to-Market Road crosses
the present City Limit Line, a speed of 45 miles per hour
for a distance of 0, 570 miles to the new City Limit Line.
(7) On Farm-to-Market Road 137, an extension of 19th Street,
S. W. , 5outh and South W esterly from the C)Id City Limit
Line to the point where said highway turns W est, when
travelling South to such point, a speed limit of 40 miles
per hour; thence South and mostly West to the North
Boundary Line of the T. & P. Railway track, the present
City Limit Line, a speed limit of 60 miles per hour in
daytime and 55 miles per hour at night. When travelling
North Easterly and North from the North Boundary Line of
the T. & P. Railway Right of Way, which is the present
City Limit Line, Northeasterly, a distance of 0, 103 miles,
a speed limit of 60 miles per hour in daytime and 55 miles
per hour at night. When travelling l\b rth Easterly to a point
where the highway turns North, a distance of 0, 200 miles,
a speed limit of 45 miles per hour, as evidenced by the
attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part
hereof, and from the above point, North, a distance of
0, 543 miles to the old City Limit Line, a speed limit of
40 miles per hour.
Section 2, Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall
be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a
fine not exceeding Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars.
Section 3, All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on the lOth day of
April, A. D. , 1963,
