AN ORDINANCE AMENDIlVG ORDINANCE NO. 1509, KNOWN AS THE
GAS ORDINANCE, AND DELETING THEREFROM SECTION 3 AND INSER,T-
ING NEW REQUIREMENTS FOK GAS WATER HEATERS, AND PROVIDING
FQR AN EFFECTIVE DATE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARI5, TEXAS:
Section l. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1509, be, and the same is
hereby deleted, and the following requirement for gas water heaters is here-
by ordered:
Gas Water Heaters: Water heaters shall not be installed in
bathrooms, bedrooms, attic, or any occupied rooms normally
kept closed.
Listed gas - fired water heaters shall be positioned in relation
to combustible construction with a minimum clearance as follows:

uninsulated underfired).
B- Underfired insu.lated automatic storage heater.
C- Type B heaters with one or more flat sides and tested
for installation flush to walls.
All heaters shall be provided with a lever handle stop cock located
in the gas riser above the floor and below the union. Drain cock
must be provided at the bottom of heater.
Section 2. Vents shall be constructed of incombustible, non-corrodible
material of sufficient thickness, cross section area, and heat insulating quality
to avoid temperatures in excess of 160 degrees Fahrenheit on adjacent ma-
terials when located inside partitions, walls or ex.tending through combustible
walls, floors, ceilings or roof. Such vents shall be continuous and of the
same material as the appliance connecting inlet to a point twelve (12) inches
above the roof line. Minimum size of vents will be three (3) inches. Vents
will be equipped with a rain cap on the top.
Section 3, This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
passage.
Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in confiict herewith
are hereby repealed.
