PARIS; REGULATING THE SPEEI? OF MOTOR VEHICLES U1'ON CERTAIlV
STREETS IN THE CITY OF PARIS, LAMAR CC3UNTY, TEXA.S; PRESCRIB-
ING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION HEREOF; ANI? REPEALING ALL OR-
DINANCES ANI? PFiRTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINEI? BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAR,IS:
Section 1. Decreasing Speed Limit in Certain Areas. It is hereby de-
termined on the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the
speed permitted by the laws of the State of Texas upon the streets here-
inafter mentioned is more than is necessary for safe operation of vehicles
thereon, by reason of the designation and signposting of said streets as
through highwayst and by reason of the fact that the areas of the streets
hereinafter described are on two sides of a elementary school within said
City.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person b operate or drive any
motor or other vehicle upon Bonham Street, between 18th Street, N. W. and
21st Street, N. W., and on 19th St"reet, S. W. and 19th Street, N. W., be-
tween Maple Avenue and Austin Street, at a greater speed than twenty (20)
miles per hour.
Section 3, Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be
punished by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred ($200. 00) Dollars.
Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly repealed.
Section 5. This ordinance shall become effective on the 25th day of
March, A. D, , 1961.
