1556 ORD FIXING TAX RATE AND TAX LEVY AND LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXES FOR COPORDINANCE NO. 1556 . AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX RATE AND THE TAX LEVY AND LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS FOR THE YEAR 1961, UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE SAID CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, IN GONFORMITY WITH THE GHARTER PROVISIONS AND OR.DINANCES OF SAID CITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, has here- tofore approved the final report of the Board of Equalization heretofore appointed by the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, wherein said Board of Equalization finds and fixes the value of all property situated within the Cityof Paris, Texas, subject to ad valorem taxes, such total valuation being the sum of $21, 367, 771. 00; and, WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Paris, Texas, the City Manager has heretofore submitted to the City Council, a proposed budget of the revenues of the City and the ex- penditures for the conduct of the affairs thereof, providing a complete financial plan for the fiscal year beginning July l, 1961, and ending June 30, 1962; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore, by ordinance adopted the budget appropriating from ad valorem taxes the following sums, to -w it: General Fund $384, 064. 32 Debt Service Fund 75, 586.53 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIlVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section l. That there shall be and is hereby levied for the year 1961 and ordered to be collected a tax of $2. 50 on each and every ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100. 00) of the assessed valuation of all property of every description subject to taxation within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, and that said tax so levied shall be distributed and ap- portioned as follows: For the payment of CURRENT EXPENSES of the City Government of the City of Paris, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the cor- porate limits of the City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of (of which $0. 015 will be for the operation of the Paris Municipal Band) $2. 09 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for WATERWORKS BONDS, Series "G", on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to ta.xation, a tax of $0. 168 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for R.EFUNDING BONDS, 1927 issue, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to ta,xation, a tax of $0.121 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for SEWER CONSTKUCTION BONDS, Series 1934, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of $0. 019 Forpaying interest and creating a sinking fund for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, RESURFACING BONDS, Series 1936, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to ta,xation, a tax of $0.018 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, ABATTOIR BONDS, Series 1936, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.007 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for GITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS, Series 1937, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to ta,xation a tax of $0. 014 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for City of Paris, Texas, STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS, Series 1938, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.014 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for City of Paris, Texas, STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS, Series 1939, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, and subject to taxation, a tax of $0, 014 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, WATERWORKS GONSTRUCTION BONDS, Series 1939, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to taxation,a tax of $0. 007 For paying interest and creating a sinking fund for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, TIME WARR.ANTS, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to ta,xation, a tax of $0.025 Sewer Construction Bonds, Series 1936, for paying the interest and creating a sinking fund therefor, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the corporate limits of the City of i'aris and sub- ject to ta.xation, a tax of $0.003 $2. 50 Section 2. There is also levied and ordered to be collected against each and every person, firm or corporation pursuing an occupation within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, except where levy of same is expressly forbidden by general law, an occupation tax and license tax equal to one-half (1/2) of that levied by the State of Texas against such occupation. This provision applies to each and every occupation upon which the Sta.te of Texas levies a ta.x and fixes a license fee and only to such occupations. Section 3. The City Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Paris is hereby directed to assess, extend and enter upon the tax rolls of the City of Paris, Texas, for the current taxable year, the amounts and rates herein levied and to keep a correct account of same, and the taxes herein levied shall be collected as provided by the ordinances and the Charter of the City of Paris, Texas, and the laws of the Sta.te of Texas; and when so collected, same shall be deposited in the depository of the City of Paris to be distributed in accordance with ordinance. Section 4. Current ad valorem ta.xes for the year 1961, paid on or prior to December 31, 1961, shall be subject to discounts as follows: Three per cent if paid on or before Oc.tober 31, 1961; Two per cent if paid after October 31, 1961, and on or before November 30, 1961; One per cent if paid after November 30, 1961, and on or before December 31, 1961. Section 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby expressly repealed. This ordinance shall be and remain in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval by the City Council of the City of Paris. Read, approved and passed this the l Oth day of July, A.
