1561 ORD AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 1274 KNOWN AS ELECTRICAL ORDINANCEORDINANCE NU. 1561 . AN ORDINANCE AMENDING OR,DINANCE NO. 1274, KNOWN AS THE ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE, AND AMENDING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF 1959, AS APPROVED BY THE AMERICAN STANDARDS ASSOCIA- TION, OR ANY SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS HEREAFTER OF SAID ELECTRICAL CODE, AND PROVIDING GERTAIN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTR.ICAL WIRING WITHIN THE CITY OF PARIS; REQUIRING CER- TAIN PERMITS; GIVING CERTAIN AUTHORITY TO THE ELEGTRICAL IN- SPECTOR WITH REFERENCE TO ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY THEREFOR; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. BE IT ORDAIlVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARTS: That Electrical Ordinance No. 1274, passed by the City Council of the Gity of Paris on the lOth day of November, 1952, and the National Electrical Code of 1959 as approved by the American Sta.ndards Association, be, and the same are hereby amencled as follows: Section l. That no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter install for residential purposes any se~vice entrance conductors with the service entrance conductor smaller than #6 wire. Section Z. That no person, firm or corporation shall install within the City of Paris, Texas, any electric 'wiring of a smaller size wire than #12; provided however that switch legs or control wires may be wired with #14 wire. , Section 3. That no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter wire any electric range ta,ble tops with less than 3#10 wire.. And no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter wire any built in oven with 30 amp breaker, with less than 3#10 wire. Section 4. That no person, firm or corporati.on shall hereafter install any electrical wiring on the outside surface of any building within the cor- porate limits of the City of Paris, includ;ing a private residence, without placing said wiring in an approved and properly grounded conduit. Section 5. That no person, firm or corporation shall install any electri- cal installations having more than two two-wire circuits without supplying the same with a three wire service. Section 6. That no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter install any service heads at a location hatving not more than two feet from the ser- vice drops, and not less than'three feet from any door, window, or other opening in the building, unless specifically approved by the Electrical Inspector. Section 7. That no person, firm or corporation shall install any ser- vice entrance switches or any service equipment within a bath room, toilet, closet or cabinet. Section 8. That no person, firm or corporation shall install any ser- vice heads for residential purposes within less than ten feet or more than twenty feet above the ground, and same shall be so situated that they shall not be within reach from any porch or stair landings, and all service _head insta.llations, where practical, shall afford direct unobstructed space for stringing service drops without the necessity of such drops passing over the property of others than the owner of the property being served. Section 9. That no person, firm or corporation shall leave any unused electrical equipment within or upon public or private buildings or premises, if, in the opinion of the Electrical Inspector the same constitutes a hazard or danger to life or property, including unused electric range insta,llations and unused contractor` meter loops. Section 10. No person, firm or corporation shall insta.ll the following electrical equipment, without having applied for and received a permit from the Office of the Department of Public Works of the City of Paris, to-wit: a. A w indow unit air conditione r of the size of 1/ 2, 3/ 4 or 1 Horse Power motors, or installation of motors in excess of the above. b. Where sufficient additional circuits are added that require a master switch. Section 11. That no person, firm or corporation shall cover up any electrical wiring in the process of construction without inspection by the Eleetrical Inspector of the City of Paris, and the Electrical Inspector of the City of Paris shall have the authority to require any person, firm or corporation, which has so covered electrical wiring in the process of con- struction, to uncover such wiring or electrical equipment which has been concealed without aru inspection by the Electrical Inspector. Section 12. Any pe rson, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction therefor, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, and each and every dayts continuance of any violation of the provisions of this ordinance shall constitute and be deemed a separe.te offense. ` Section 13. If any section, sub-section, clause or phrase of this ordinance , for any reason be held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such holding or decision shall' not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. Section 14. All ordinances or parts of ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, or of the Natianal Electrical Code, conflicting with the pro- visions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 15.
