The State traffic laws regulating the speed of vehicles P.C. 827a, Regulating operation o: vehicles on highways, Section 8, Rate and speed of vehicles.) shall be applicable upon all streets within this city, except as this ordinance, as authorized by State law (P.C. 827a, Section 8, Subsection 3.), hexeby de- claxes and determines upon the basis of engineering and traffic investiga- tion that certain speed regulations shall be applicable upon specified streets or in certain areas, in which event it shall be prima facie unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of any speed so de- clared in this ordinance when signs are in place giving no•tice thereof. 5ection 2. Increasina State.Speed Limit in Certain Zones. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by State law upon the following streets is less than is necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon by reason of the designation and signposting of said streets as through highways and by reason of widely spaced intersections and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated at the times specified when signs are erected giving notice thereof: (a) On Lamar Avenue (U. S. Highway No. 82) from 21st Street East to 30th Street East, a speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour at all times. (b) On Lamar Avenue (U. S. Highway No. 82) from 30th Street East easterly to the east city limit line, a speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour at all times. (c) On Clarksville Street (U. S. Highway No. 271) from 20th Street South East, southeasterly to a point one thousand (19000) feet east of 24th South East Street, a speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour at all times. (d) On Clarksville 5treet {U. S. Highway No. 271} from a point one thousand (19000) feet east of 24th 5outh East Street easterly to the east city limit line, a speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour at all times. (e) On Bonham Street (U. S. Highway No. 82) from 25th Street West to the west city limit line, a speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour at all times. (f) On North Main Street (U. S. Highway No. 271) from Center Street northerly to the north city limit line, a speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour at all times. (g) On South Church Street (State Highway No. 24) from the P. & M.P. Railm ad Tracks south to Evergreen Street, a speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour at all times. (h) On South Church Street (State Highway No. 24) from Evergreen Street southerly to the south city limit lines a speed la.mit of fifty (50) miles per hour at all times. (i) On Evergreen Street (Farm Road No. 1507) from South Church Street to Jefferson Roads a speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour at all times. (j) On Jefferson Road from Evergreen Street easterly to the east city limit line, a speed limi.t of forty-five (45) miles per hour at all times.
