AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAC RATE AND THE TAX LEVY AND
LEVYIAiG AD VA.LOREM TAXES FOR THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
FOR THE YEAR 1956, UFDN ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY INITHIN
THE SAID CITY OF PARIS, TEXASV IN C?DNFORMITY WITH THE
CHARTER PROVISIONS AND ORDINANCES OF SfAID CITY; AND
REPEALIMG ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris,9 Texas has here-
tofore approved the final report vf the Board of Equalization hcretofore
appointed by the City Council of the City of Paris, I'exas, wherein said
Board of Equalization finds and fixes the value of all pxoperty situated
within the City of Paris, Texas, subject to ad valorem taxes, such total
valuation being the sum of $17,928,718.77; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the
City of Paris, Texas, the City Manager ha5 heretofore submitted to the
City Council, a proposed budget of the revenues of the City and the ex-
penditures for the conduct of the affairs thereof, providing a compiete
financial plan for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1956, and ending
June 30, 1957; and,
WHEREA.;, the City Couneil has heretofore, by ordinance adopted
the budget appropriating from ad valorem taxes the following sumst to-wit:
General Fund $2169671.40
Debt Service Feand 117~266.60
NOW9 THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PAFtIS a
Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby levied for the year
1956 and ordered to be collected a tax of $2.15 on eaeh and every ONE
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) of the assessed valuation of all property of
every description subject to taxation within the corpoxate ,limits of the
City of Parisp and that said tax so levied shall be distributed and
apportioned as follows:
For the payment of GURRENT EXPENSES of the City
Government of the City of Parisp on each and every One
Hundred Dollars worth of property sitvated within the
corporate limits of the City of Paris and sub,ject to
taxation, a tax of (of which $0.0212 will be for the
operation of the Paris Municipel Band) $1.395
For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for WATERWORKS BONDS, Series "G", on each and every One
Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the
corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to
taxation, a tax of $0.222
For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for REFUNDING BOND6, 1927 issuet on each and every One
Hundred Dollars worth of property situated within the
corporate limits of the City of Paris and subject to
taxationt a tax of $0.152
For paying interest and creating a sinking fand
fox SEWER Q7IaSTRUCTION BOND6, Series 1934, on each and
every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated
within the corporate limits of the City of Paris and
subject to taxation, a tax of $0.024
For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for City of Parisg Texas, REFUNDING BONDS, Series 1936,
on each and every One Hundred Do11ars worth of property
situated within the corporate limits of the City of
Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.18
For paying interESt and creating a sinking fund
for CITY OF PAF?IS, TEXAS, RESURFACING BONDS, Series
1936, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth of
property situated within the corporate limits of the
City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.021
For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, ABATTOIR BONDS, Series 1936t
on each and every One Hundred Dollars wvrth of property
situated within the corporate limits of the City of Paris
and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.004
For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for CITY OF PARIS O TEXAS, STREET IMPROVEIUENT BONDS O
Series 1937, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth
of property situated within the corporate limits of the
City of Paris and subject to taxationg a tax of $0.02

for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, STREET IMPROVEAENT BOND6,
Series 1938, on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth
of property situated within the corporate limits of the
City of Paris, and subject to taxation, a tax of $0.02

Series 1939l on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth
of property situated within the corporate limits of the
City of Parisp and sub,ject to taxatien, a tax of $0.017
For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, WATERWORKS CONSTRUCTTON BOND6,
Series 1939, on each and every One Hundred Dollars
morth of property situated within the corporate limits
of the City of Paris and sUbject to taxation, a tax of $0.01
` For paying interest and creating a sinking fund
for CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, TIME WARRANTS, on each and
every One Hundred Dollars worth of property situated
uvithin the corporate limits of the City of Paris and
subject to taxationt a tax of $0.08
Ser+er Construction Bonds, Series 19369 for
paying the interest and creating a sinking fund
thereforp on each and every One Hundred Dollars worth
of property situated within the corporate limits of
the City of Paris and subject to taxation, a tax of 0 005

Section 2. There is also levied and ordered to be collected
against each and every persons firm or corporation pursuing an occupation
within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, except where levy of
same is expressly forbidden by general law, an occupation tax and license
tax ea,ual to one-half (1/2) of that levied by the State of Texas against
such occupation. This provis ion applies to each and every occupation
upon whi ch the State of Texas levies a tax and fixes a license fee and
only to such occupations.
Section 3. The City Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of
Paris is hereby directed to assess, extend and enter upon the tax rolls
of the City of Parisp Texasg for the current taxable yearg the amounts
and rates herein levied and to keep a correct account of same) and the
taxes herein levied shall be collected as provided by the ordinances
and the Charter of the City of Paris, Texast and the laws of the State
of Texas; and when so collected, same shall be deposited in the de-
pository of the City of Paris to be distributed in accordance with
ordinance.
Section 4. Current ad valorem taxes for the year 1956, paid on
or prior to December 31, 1956, shall be subject to discounts as follows:
Three per cent if paid on or before October 31,
1956; Two per cent if paid after October 31, 1956,
and on or before November 30, 1956; One per cent
if paid after November 30, 1956,and on or before
December 31, 1956.
Section 5. A11 ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
This ordinance shall be and remain in fu11 force and effect from
and after its passage and approval by the City Council of the City of
Paris.
