amended on Ilovember 7, 19441 by the addition of Sectian
51-f, Article III, which authorized the Legislature to
establish a state-vride retirement and disability pension
system for city eznployees;

as amended by Chapter 24, ricts Regular Session 51st Legis-
lature, establisned the Texas ;:iunicipal «etirement System,
and authorizes tne goveining body of each city or town to
elect, at its option, to have one or more of the city de-
partriente participate in sucia system;

'Pederal -jocial ;;ecurity, the City Council of the C;ity of
Paris, `T'exas, finds that it will be tn tne public interest
for the city to have its employees of-.-the:.departments of
the City government herein set out participate in the
Texas :.:unicigal Retirement System, NOYy= THEREFORE,

Section 1. 'I'hat in behalf oi the City of raris, the
City Council oj' said Uity her.°eby exercises its option and
elects to have 811 ersployees of the departrients of the
(:ity of Paris hereinafter set out (the t'ire Department
being specifically excepted) participate in the Texas
:viunicigal itetirement zystem as provided in Chapter 75,
.kcts of trie 50th I,egislatLire, as atnended, bein~; .:rticle
6243h of Vernon's ~nnotated ;;ivil z.-tatutes; and all of
the benaiits and obligations of such systezn are hereby
accepted.
Section 2. '1'hat the l::ayor is hereby directed to noti-
fy the ~)oarci of Trustees of the Texas kiunicipal lietirement
System tuat the Gity of' Paris, `iexas, has elected to par-
ticipate and have all employees of tlie tollowine city de-
partments participate in such system: Administrative lie-
nartment, Finance llepartraent(including riccounting, :iuditing
and Tax vivisions), Department of Public ~iorks(including
11-;ngineering, Parks, ;~anitation, aeNer, Street, Later Pro-
duction, and „,ater Distribution Livisions), 11,.iunicinal
3arage, and Furchasing and ~iarehousing Lepartment.
Section 3. Lach person who becomes an employee of any
participating department on or aiter the effeetive date of
participation of such depaztmerlt shall be inc:i.uded within
and sub ject ta tYie provisions of t ne Texas i::unicipal ttetire-
raent System beginning upon the c_ate such person becones an
employee as defined in sucYi system.
Section 4. Tilat tiie City of i'aris, `i'exas, reserves the
right, and rnay in the future, reYuse to add new departmer~ts
or neve employees to such system, but shall never discontinue
as to any participants.

paris is hereby directed to remit to the Bosrd of 'I'rastees
of the Texas ::~unicipal z~.etirenent System, at its oPf'ice
in .,ustin, 'iexas, the city's proper contributions to the
system and the amounts which shall be deducted from the
compensation or payroll of employees, all as required by
said Board under the provisions of i:hapter 75, :;.cts of the
50th Legislature of the 6tate of Texas, as aruended, and the
daid Director of r inance is hereby authorized and directed
to ascertain and certify ofiicially an behalf of the Gity of
Paris the prior service rendered to the said municipality by
each of the employees of the participating departments, and
the average prior service coraPonsation received by each,
and to make anu execute all otPier reports and certiffcates
vtinich rr:ay be required of the City of i'aris under the pro-
visions of Chapter 24, "ets Regular :Assion 51st Legislature
or the rules ana regulations of the board of `I'rustees of
the Te;.as ::~Iunicipal ;~etirement aystem.
