" by ar.iending Section 5 to pro- vide for presentation of a certificate of vaccination to fhe Dixector of Finance dated witlii.n ni.nety days prior to presenta- tion, and authorizing the Director of Finance to permit any licensed veterinari.an in the City of Paris to act in his behalf in issuing license tags for dogs and coll.ecting the annual 1i- cense tax thereon. BE IT ORAAIATID BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: 1. That Section 5 of ordinance no. 1194 hexetofore passed by the City Council of the City of Paris on May 23, 1949, entitled; "An prdi.aance providing for the vaccinatian or inoeulation of dogs to prevent rabies 2.nd a license fee in connection there4Pith; prohibiting the running at large of dogs not vaccinated or inocu- lated and provicling for the i.mpounding and destruction of dogs when at laxge contrary to the provisions of this ordinance; pro- viding for the killing of dogs under proclamation of the mayor in case of epidemics of rabies; prescribing procedure and penalties for violation of its provisions and repealing ordinance nunber 920 and ordinance number 1118 and all other ordinances or parts of or- dinances in conflict herewith." be and the same is hereby amended so that Section 5 of said ordinance shall hereafter be and read as folloxs: 5. 7'here is hereby levied on every dog owned, kept or harbored withi.n the corporate limits of the City of Paris an annual license tax oY fifty cents (S.KO) against the owner, keeper or custodian thereof, to be paid to the Director of Finance on or before the first day of April of each year. Upon presentation of a certificate of vaccination or inoculation, exeeuted by a licensed veterinarian within ninety days prior to presentation, and payment of the annual license tax, the Director of Finance sha11 deliver to the applicant a metal tag on which is stamped the words 'tFaris, Texas" and figurea showing the number of the tag and the year for xhich the license tax was paid. Such metal tag sha1Z be securely at- -t~ 4, d~-j tached,at a11 times during t,he year for which the license ta.x was paid. (a) The Director of Finance of the City of Paris is hereby authorixed to permit as~y Iicensed veterinarian wf.thin the City of Paris to act in his behalf in collecting the annual li- cense tax herein provided for and issuing the netal tag herein- above mentioned. ,All such taxes collected b3r, ar~y such veterinari.an shall be de]ivered to the Director of Finance, together with in- formation concerning the persons paying such tax, upon demand therefor. 2. A]1 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict hersvrith ars hereby repealed. 3. This orcLi.nance shall become effective ten days from and after its passage.
