1253 ORD CALLING ELECTION ON PROPOSITION OF ISSUANCE OF $150,000 WATERWORKS IMPROVEMENT AND EXTENSION REVENUE BONDSr _ _ a ORDIIdANCE N0, ~ 1253' B7C THE CITY CJDUNCZL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, CALLING A1V ELECTION ON THE PROPOSITION OF THE ISSIIANCE OF $150,000,00 WATERWORKS IMPftOVEMT AND EX`I'ENSION REVENUE BONDS AIdD ON THE PROFOSITION OF THE ISSUANCE OF $400,000,00 FOR SEWER IMPROVE+IEAIT AND EXTENSIOIJ REVENUE BONVS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas, deems it advisable to issue the bonds of said City for the purposes hereinafter mentioned; BE IT ORDAIItiiED 3Y THE CITY COUATCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS), `i'EXAS: la That an election be held in said City of Paris, Texas, on the 30th da9 of October, 1951, at which election the following propositions shall be submitted: PROFOSITION N0, 1 "Shall the City Council of the City of Paris, Texasp be authorized to issue the borrls of said City in the amount of $150.,000.001 maturing serially in such installraents as may be fixed by the City Council, the maxim~um raaturity being not more than Twenty Five (25) years from their date, bearing interest at a rate not to exceed Three and One-half (30) per cent per annum., for the purpose of improving and extending the City's Waterworks System, to be issued in accordance with and secured in the manner provided in Articles 1111-1118, both inslusive., of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, 1925, as amended, e ach bond to be conditioned that the holder thereof shall never have the right t o demand payment of said obligation out of funds raised or to be raised by taxation, secu red by a pledge of tYe net revenues froan the operation of said Waterworks System, and if the Sewer Improvement and Extension Revenue Bonds are voted as provided in Proposition No, 2, to be secured additionally by a pledge of the net revenues from tYe operation of said Sewer System. The probable period of usefulness being 50 years," PROPOSITION N0, 2 "Shall the City Council oP the City of Paris, Texas, be authorized to issue the bonds of said City in the amount of $400,000.00., maturing serially in such installments as may be fixed by the City Council, the maximum maturity being not more than Twenty Five (25) years from tYbeir date,bearing interest at a rate not to exceed Three and One-half (30) per cent per annum, for the purpose of improving and extending the City's Sewer System, to b e issued in accordance with and secured in the manner provided in Articles 1111-1118.. both inclusive, of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas., 1925, as amended, each bond to be conditioned that the holder thereof shall never have the right to demand paynent of said obligations out of Punds raised or to be raised by taxation, secured by a pledge of the net revenues from the operation of the Sewer Systen, and if the Waterworks Improvement and Extensioh Revenue Bonds are voted as provided i.n groposition Noo l, to be secured additionally by a pledge of the net revenues from the operation of said Waterworks System. Aclams, Clerk, In Ward No. 2 at Grard Hotel, Grand Avenue., with the following directors: Mrs. Hugh Collins, Presiding Judge,, Mrso ELmr Dement, Judge, Hugh Collins, Clerk, Mrs. Bertha Hodges, Clerk, In Ward No. 3 at Ba.sement., Lamar County Courthouse, with the following directors: J. M. Braswell, Presiding Judge,, Mr.s, Gaither Rodgers., Judge, rirs. Charlos Roach, Clerk, Mrs. E. H. Conway, Cle rk. In Ward No, 4 at Paris High School Gymnasium, with the following directors: Mrs. J. M. Cross, Presidirg Judge, mrs. R. K. ftecord, Judge., J. A. Lilla rd, Cle rk., Mrs. Collins James, Clerk. 3. The said election shall be held under the provisions of Chapter 1. Title 22, of the Revised Civil Statutes of 1925, as amended, inc:Luding the provisions of Article 704, as auaended, and only legally qua.lified electors who awn taxable property in the City and who have duly rendered the same for taxation shall be qualified to voteo k, The ballots of said election shall have written or printed thereon the follororing: PR7POSITION NOa 1 "FOR THHF„ ISSUANCE UF WATEFtWORKS IMPROVEMENT AND EX`i'EIvSION REVENUE BONDS" "AGAIAIST THE ISSUANCE OF WATERWORKS IMPROM9ENT AND EXTENSION REVENUE BONDS" PROP6SITION N0. 2 "FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER IMFROVEMENT AND EXTENSION FiEVENUE BOND&,n "AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER IN.:°ROVEMENT AND EX- TENSION REVENUE; BONDS" .a a Concerning each of said propositions, each voter shall mark out with black ink or black pencil one of the above escpressions, thus leaving the other as indicating his vote on the proposition„ 5. A substantial copy of this ordinance signed by the Mayor of said City and attested by the City Clerk shall serve as proper notice of said election. Notice shall be given in accordance with Article 704, Revised Civil Statutes of 1925, as amended, The Mayor is authorized and dire cted to have a copy of said notice posted at the City Hall in said City and at each of the voting places within said City, not less than fifteen days prior to t,he date fixed for holding said election. He shall also cause said notice to be published on the sane day in each of two guccessive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published within said City, the date of the first publica.- tion to be mt less than fourteen days prior to the date set for said election. Except as ol:herwise provided in said Article 704, as amended, the manner of holding said election shall be gower:led by the laws governing general electionso ADOPTED AND APPROVED this the 6th day of October, 19519 ✓ ~L".
