substanttally free from dirt, dust, clay or harmful substances, and shall
be unifarmly gradad from 300,~ passir_c, No. 3 sieve to not more than 10t%
passing No. 100 sievs. A;;~;rabrate shall be of hard, dura)Dle rock or
~ravel, silbstantially free from sha1e or deccmposed piec4a, and shP.11
be uncoa+ed and clean. The ~;r^dation sha11 be uniform and between the
limits of a dianeter of 2 inches and 1/4 inch in size. The water used
sha,11 be clean and freo fron, oil and sal+ and other injur ious substances.

Expansian joints shall be placed at not mare than 30-foot intervals, and
such joints shall be filled with approved exgmnsion joint matarials, of
premalded, non-extrudin~; type.
(3). COrdC-RETS. Concrete shall be so proportioned as to zivo a s+rength
of 30po~`unds per square inch at 28 days after i ouring, and the slump
thereof at the time of pouring must be not less than 1-1/2 inr,has nor
more than 4 inches.
(4). 5U13GRADE. The subgrade shall be graded and compactad. It shall be
tested vrith a scratch board resting on the forms, and high and law places
shall be correct9d. The subgrade sYall be moistened before concrete is
poured.
(5). F?TYISHING APtD GURI'v'G. ti straioht-edge check sha11 be made while tho

foat intervals and overlapping at least five fest on each rheck.

methods and procedures under the dixdction of and subject ta inspection
by and appraval of the City Engineer of the City of Paris.
(7). FRaGT PROTECTIOT:. N6 concrete sha.ll be poured when the air tempera-
ture is e ow egrees-. F., unless the ag;regates and water are hea+ad
to produce a tempe*-ature of not less than 60 degrees F. and not r2ore than
90 d@grefls F'., at the time af the pouring thereof, and unless adequate
pravisions are made for maintairlin~,~ protection a;ainst fraezir_g of the
concrate for at least sAVen days irrunediatoly followinr- the pouring thersof.

SECTIGN 4. Any person, firm or copporation ab~7avated or affectad bv any
decisi n or act of any administrative office or officer of the City of Paris,
acting under and by virtue of the provisions of this ordanance, may appeal to
the City Council of the city of Paris t;y filin~ with the off'icer from whom the
appeal is taken and with the City Clerk of the City of Paris aYotice of Appeal
in writin~, specifyine the grounds thereof. Such appeal sha11 stay ali f ro-
ceedings in the furtherance of the action appeAled from until the next regular
meeting of the City Council, unless such appeal is taken up for cansideration
by said Council before surh regular ^ieetino. 'lfhen it its jud,~~ment the City
Council decides that said apleal involves an api lication f'or specl.al exception
to the regulations of this ordinance, ar_d it is furt;her of the opinion that the
public convenience and welfare will*ot be substantially or perrnanently injured,
it shall, subjact ta appropriate conditions and safeguards, authorize sr.eciaJ.

SECTIOP? 5. Pao provis ion of this ordinance shall be held to repeal another
ordinance or any r.rovision thereof except whera in direet con:flict vierewith,
and the provisions of this ordinance shall be held cumulative of other ordinancea,
inrith reference ta matters contained herein, except in cases of conflict, if any,
ir_ whi_cla avont the previsions of this ordinanr,a sha11 prevail.
