of the City of I'aris shall be successYully vaccinated or inoculated
against the disease known as hydrophobia or rabiµs eacr yeer n.ere-
sfte r on dr bePere t r.e f ir st day of kpri]., and aWaAmOx tag shall
be worn by each dog bearing the word s TtParis, Texas" and Yigures
indicating the year of such vaccination or inoculation. Dogs
that have been vaccinated or inoculated during the carrent year
need not be vaccinated cr inoculated again during the current
yea`r. A11 dogs not heretofore vacci'h6ted or iaoculated snall
be vaccinated or inoculated xrithin twenty (20) days of the effec-
tive date of this ordinance.
2. The term dog as used herein includes both the male and
the fenale species.
3. Hereafter it shall be unlat+rful Por any dog not vaecinated
or inoculated and wearing the tag herein provided for to run at
large wit"hin the limits of the i:ity Qf Paris. Dogs sha11 be con-

sidered at large within the meaning of this ordinance if not con-
fined upon the premises of tne owner, keeper or custodian thereof
within a substantial enclosure sufficient to prevent escape, or
under control uuon the premises of tue owner, keeper or eustodian
t hereoY', or se curely fastened by chain on the premi ses of t he
owner, keeper or custodian thereof, or securely confined by leash
when off the premises of the owner.
4. 2'lle City Health Officer shall prescribe for the vacci-
nation or inoculation oY all dogs within the limits of the City
of paris against the disease k4own as nydrophobia or rabies and
such preseription shall be available to all veterinarians.

5. There is hereby levied upon every dog oivned, kept or
corDorate
harbored within the/limits of t.ie City of Paris an annual license
fee of FIFTY CEIvTS (~s.50) against the owner, keeper or custodian
thereof, to be naid by him to the :jirector o~.' Finance on or before
the first day of "pril af eacu year. Upon preseritation of a cer-
tificate ol vaccinatian or incculation,executvd by a licensed
veterinarian within ten (10) days of the date of presentation,
and payment of t'-:e annual license fee, the Ljirector of Finance
shali deliver to the applicant a 7o.z*XE tag on which is stam-oed
the words "Paris, Tex.as" and figures showing the ntunber of the
tag and theyear for which the license fee was paid. Suc11 XUe11$ .
tag shall be securely attached to a collar around the dog's neck
and shall be kept so attached at all times duting the year for
whic:a the license fee vJas paid. 'i'he collar with such tag attached
siiall be worn by the dog at all times during the year for whicn

6. r,ll dogs found running at large vrithin the corporate
liniits of t.Ue City of Paris in violation of triis ordinance shall
be eaDtured and imPounded by the ChieT of Police or any polieeman
of the Uity oi Paris or any other officer designated to so cto.
Notice of sucti impounding snall be given by posting written notices
containing a brieY description of the impounded dog in two Dublic
places, one of such notices to be posted at the door of the City
Hall of the Oity oi Paris azid one `.o be ppsted at the Uity Pound,
or notice may be given by publication thereof one tlnle in the of-
Yicial city news.9aper. Such notfce shall state that all impounded
dogs not redeemed ae hereinafter provided wi.thin Yorty-eight (48)
hours after publication will be destroyed.
7. The owner, keeper or custodian of any dog captured and
impounded under the provisions hereof shall have the right to
redeem such dog at any time within forty-eight (48) hours after
posting or publication of notice of its capture and impounding
and receive possession of sane upon payment of an impounding fee
of THREE AED IVO/100 DOLZARS (~3.00) to the t%hief of rolice for
each dog so redeeraed.

8. It shall be the duty of tue :dayor of tYie ~;ity of Paris,
wit h approval of the Gity Council, at anq t ime when in his judg-
ment there are mad or rabid dogs within the corporate limits of
the City of paris and tne public health and safety is thereby
endangered, to issue his proclamation authorizing and requiring
tiie Uhief of 2olice or any policeman to kill,any dog, whetner
vaccinated or inoculated or not and whettzer or not such dog is
wearing the tag herrin provided for, found running at large within
the corporate lim3ts of the City of Paris. 'I'he Chief of Police
and all policemen are hersby authorized, without proclamation
of the flayor, to kill any rabid dog within the copporate limits
of tne City of i'aris.
9. .,,.ny owner, keeper or custodian of a dog found running at
large within tlie corporate limits of the City of _'Paris contrary
to the provisions of this ordinance, or who shall fail or refuse
to pay the licenae fee provided herein, or who shall fail or refuse
to have sucn dog vaccinated or inoculated as provided r;erein, or
vrho shall violate any other provisions of this oruinance, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall
be fined in any sum not exceeding UNE DOLLARS ($100.00
Each day tnat a dog is berL:itted to run at large in violation of
this ordinance or that the ovaner, keeper or custodian thereoP
fails or refuses to pay the license fee, or to nave the dog vac-
cinated or inoculated as provided herein shall. constitute a sep-
arate offense.
10. Ordinance number 920, Ordinance number 1118 and all
other ordinanees or parts of ordinances in conflict aerevrith are
hereby repealed.
11. 1'his ordinanee shall become effective ten days from
and after the date of its passage.
