RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE
COUNCIL/CITIZENS REDISTRICTING ADVISORY COMMITTEE;
MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE
SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 9th day of July,
2001, by Resolution No. 2001-085, authorize the issuance of an order calling for the redistricting of
political boundaries and City Council districts within the city of Paris in accordance with census data
issued by the United States Census Bureau and State and Federal law and Section $ of the City
Charter; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that a Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory
Committee be created for the purposes of reviewing and discussing various redistricting concepts and
making recommendations thereon; and,
WHEREAS, it is further deemed appropriate that said Committee consist of fifteen (15)
members as follows: the seven (7) members of the City Council; one (1) citizen from each of the
seven (7) City Council districts, said members being selected by the Council members from each
respective district; and one (1) citizen chosen at large by the Mayor; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby deem it advisable to
establish a Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee for the purposes of reviewing and
discussing various redistricting concepts and making recommendations thereon.
Section 3. That the Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee shall consist of fifteen
(15) members as follows: the seven (7) members of the City Council; one (1) citizen from each of the
seven (7) City Council districts, said citizens being selected by the Council members from each
respective district; and one (1) citizen chosen at large by the Mayor.
Section 4. That Lucius Joe, Jr., as a citizen representative of District 1; [], as a citizen
representative of District 2; Philip Nance, as a citizen representative of District 3; Dolores Stowe, as
a citizen representative of District 4; ~], as a citizen representative of District 5; Judy Stamper, as a
citizen representative of District 6; Sue Fancher, as a citizen representative of District 7; and Brady
Fisher, as an at-large citizen representative, be, and they are hereby, appointed to serve as citizen
members of the Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee for the duration of the 2001
redistricting efforts by the City of Paris.
Section 5. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
