83-067 RES CITY COUNCIL IS AWARE THE COLLECTION RATE FOR INPATIENT TRANSFER SERVICE CONDUCTED BY PARIS AND LAMAR COUNTY AMBULANCE SERVICE HAS BEEN 80%RESOLUTION r1o. 83-067
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware
of the fact that the collection rate for inpatient transfer
service conducted by the Paris and Lamar County Ambulance
Service has been approximately 80%; and,
WHEREAS, due to Medicare Part B Ambulance Medicare
Newsletter No. 24, we have become aware of the fact that
Medicare excludes from its coverage all items supplies and
services furnished to an inpatient other than physicians
services that are not directly furnished by the Hospital or
by others on the Hospital's behalf. Therefore, ambulance
services to inpatient's of a Hospital must be billed
directly to the Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, it becomes appropriate for the City of Paris
as an ambulance provider to contract directly with hospitals
for inpatient ambulance transportation in the form of
Exhibit A attached hereto; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, that the rlayor of the City of Paris, Joe Graham, be,
and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on
behalf of the City of Paris contracts for inpatient ambu-
lance transportation with L. P. McCuistion Community
Hospital, Inc. and with St. Joseph's Hospital, Inc. upon the
terms and conditions contained in Exhibit A and B.

corporation acting by and through its Mayor, Joe Graham,
duly authorized, hereinafter called CITY and L. P.
McCuistion Communit_y Hospital, lnc, hereina£ter called
HOSPITAL do hereby contract and agree as iollows:
l. CITY agrees to furni_sh inpatient tr.ansfer service
of patients from HOSPITAL to place o'L treatment and returri
to HOSPITAL at HOSPITAL's request:.
2. CITY will biil HOSPITAL <xt the custonary rate from
transport ar.d :.upplies with HOSPITAL being entitled to 20%
disceunt if" paid within 15 days of biiling date. In the
event HOSPITAL has not paid biil within :SO days of billing
date, 100% of bill ~aill accrue interest at the statutory
liriit.
It is mutually agreed that either party can
uniiuterally terminate this contract a{ter having given 30
days written notice to the other party.
