2164 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS OF WARDS 1, 2, 3 AND 6RESOLUTION N0. 2164 WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of Wards l, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the lOth day of April, 1982, for the purpose of voting for and electing the Councilmen from each of said Wards to serve as members of the City Council for the ensuirig two (2) years, to-wit: l. Councilman From Ward One (1) 2. Councilman From Ward Two (2) 3. Councilman From Ward Three (3) 4. Councilman From Ward Six (6) WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of the United States for the Eastern District of Texas, Paris Division, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as pro- vided in the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas wherein they do not conflict with said Order, such election was conducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is, one polling place in Wards 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to wit: (1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 122 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM WARD ONE (1 AS FOLLOWS: George Fisher, Jr, Travis WorthaM 68 votes; 54 votes. (2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 36 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM WARD TWO (2 AS FOLLOWS: Walter Williams Write-In Candidates 35 votes; 1 votes. (3) IN WARD THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 20 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM WARD THREE (3 AS FOLLOWS: Gene McWaters, Jr. Write-In Candidates 19 votes; -1 votes. (4) IN WARD SIX (6) A TOTAL OF 28 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM WARD SIX (6 AS FOLLOUIS: Donald G. Wilson Write-In Candidates 27 votes; 1 votes. NOW, TT-iEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that from the above and foregoing canvass of the returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is declared and determined that George Fisher, Jr „ is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward One (1), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward One (1) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; that Ulalter Williams is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Two (2), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Two (2) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; that Gene McWaters, Jr., is the person re- ceiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Three (3), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Three (3) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuiMg two (2) years; and that Donald G. Wilson is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Six (6), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Six (6) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris far the ensuing two (2) years.
