2165 RES PUBLIC WORKS AND ECONOMIC DEV ACT OF 1965RESOLUTION N0, 2165
WHEREAS, the Public Works and Economic Development
Act of 1965, being Public Law No. 89-136 as amended, pro-
vides funding for Special Economic Development and Adjust-
ment Assistance; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris did on the 2nd day of
April, 1982 suffer damage and destruction from a tornado;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, deems it to be in the best interest of the City of
Paris to seek assistance under such Act by processing a
grant application for professional assistance to help over-
come the socio-economic devastation suffered by the City
on April 2, 1982; and,
WHEREAS, an application for such grant in the amount
of $95,000.00, being 100% federal funding, should be made;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
l. That an application be made to U. S. Department of
Commerce, Economic Development Administration, Southwest
Regional Office, Austin, Texas 78701 for a grant in the
amount of $95,000.00, being 100a/o of the federal cost of
professional assistance to help overcome the socio-economic
devastation suffered by the City of Paris on April 2, 1982.
