2199 RES TEXAS MAIN STREET CENTER OF TX HISTORICAL COMM HAS BEEN CREATED TO ASSIST SMALL CITIESRESOLUTION N0. 2199
WHEREAS, the Texas Main Street Center of the Texas
Historical Commission has been created to assist small
cities to develop a public-private effort to revitalize
their "Main Street" areas, and five Texas cities will
be selected to participate in the project in 1983;
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest
to the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris, make
application for and partici ate in the Main Street Program
at a total project cost of $20,000.00. $2,500.00 to be
provided by Sid W. Richardson Foundation Grant and $17,500.00
to be provided by local funds; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
l. That an application be made for selection to
participate i.n the 1983 Main Street Program with the
specific goal of revitalizing the central business d.istrict
within the context of the preservation and rehabilitation
of its historic buildings at a total project cost of $20,000.00.
2. That Robert W. Sokoll, City Manager of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and is hereby designated certi-
fying representative and he is hereby authorized and directed,
on behalf of the City of Paris to execute and file all
applications, assurances and contracts necessary to make
the City of Paris eligible to participate in said project:
3. That Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development,
be, and he is hereby designated Project Director and Contact
Person to execute and deliver all other communications,
instruments, assurances and documents necessary for the
completion of said proj ect e
4. That Robert W. Sokoll, City Manager of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and he is hereby authorized and
directed in the event the City of Paris is selected to
participate in the Main Street Project to select an employee,
designated as Main Street Project Manager, and to provide
that Manager with travel funding for training.
5. That the City Manager be designated to coordinate
the program activities.
