1885 RES CITY COUNCIL IS AWARE OF TAX BURDEN PLACED ON ITS CITIZENSRESOLUTION N0, 1$$5 .
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware
of the tax burden placed upon its citizens; and,
wx~REAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous
of providing tax relief when it is possible to do so without
reduction of service below the standard demanded and deserved
by the citizens of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Texas did at its
called session this year enable city governing bodies, by a
majority vote, to exempt residential use of gas and electricity
from the 1% City Sales Tax, said exemption to become effective
October 1, 1978; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLUED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
That the 1% City Sales Tax on the residential use of gas and
electricity be repealed as of October l, 1978; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk of the City of
Paris is hereby directed to transmit by certified mai1, post-
marked no later than September 10, 1978, a certified copy of
this resolution to the Comptroller of Public Accounts.
