RESOLUTION NO. 1768 .
WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, acting through
its duly elected Mayor and City Council, are vitally interested in
upgrading facilities at Cox Field by improvement to existing run-
ways; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Aeronautics Administration and the
Texas Aeronautics Commission administer, grant-in-aid programs
for the purpose of assisting communities in improving local air-
ports; and,
WHEREAS, preliminary cost estimates have been prepared
by the City of Paris Engineering Department for improvement to
primary North/South runway; and,
WHEREAS, the total cost of improvements is estimated to
be $406, 542. 00; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris desires to secure all possible
assistance for funding of this project; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PARIS, That Kerry R. Sweatt, City Manager of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, be authorized to execute on behalf of the
City of Paris all grant applications, communications, documents,
assurances, notices and other project related items in application
to the FAA for grant assistance, to the TAC for grant assistance
and to the Ark-Tex Council of Governments for regional planning
consideration for .improvement to existing runways at Cox Field;
and furthermore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That a completed copy of the application
to FAA and the application to TAC be attached hereto and made a
part hereof as Exhibit A and Exhibit B respectively.
