1741 RES CITY COUNCIL DEEMS IT ADVISABLE TO CREATE TREE PRESERVATION COMMITTEERESOLUTION NO. 1741 .
WHEREAS, trees represent both an esthetical benefit as well
as a natural asset for the physical and psychological well being for
the community, and the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, deems it advisable to create a Tree Preservation Committee;
and,
WHEREAS, said Committee shall consist of citizens bearing
the classifications of realtor and alternate, contractor/builder and
alternate, two business persons, and two members -at -large from
the Council of Garden Clubs, who shall be appointed for two year
terms; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, That a Tree Preservation Committee, be, and the same is
hereby created, which shall have as its purpose the preservation
of trees in the community by the following means :
l. Making information available on the planting
and maintenance of trees.
2. To serve as an intermediary between the City
Government and builders of industrial, commer -
cial, retail, office or neighborhood service type
construction in matters concerning the disposition
of trees on city property.
3. To be of assistance to individuals or groups to
maintain and promote interest in planting and
maintaining trees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That said Tree Preservation
Committee shall consist of citizens bearing the following classifi-
cations and appointed for terms as set out in conjunction with
said classifications:
CLASSIFICATIONS TERM
Realtor and Alternate Two Years
Contractor/Builder and Alternate Two Years
Two Business Persons Two Years
Two Members -at -Large from the
Council of Garden Clubs Two Years
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That said Tree Preservation
Committee shall have the following responsibilities:
l. To encourage the preservation and maintenance
as well as planting of new trees.
2. To assist in the implementation of existing city
ordinances governing trees on city property,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That said Tree Preservation
Committee shall conduct its activities within those specific areas
or circumstances in which a building permit, site plan or con-
struction plan is submitted or if construction is imminent for any
commercial, industrial, retail, office or neighborhood service
development and that all activities by the committee will be con-
ducted in a complimentary means through the use of persuasion
and negotiation and shall in no way become an obstruction to the
administrative and governmental processes for permit or plan
approval, and, further that personnel of the Tree Preservation
Committee will coordinate their advice and recommendations to
the City of Paris through the City Manager's Office,
