RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 TO THE
CONTRACT WITH RICHARD DRAKE CONSTRUCTION FOR
PREPARATION OF SITE WORK AROUND THE NEW NESTED T-
HANGAR AT COX FIELD AIRPORT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 14th day of May,
2001, in Resolution No. 2001-068, award the contract for"Cox Field Airport Preparation of Site
Work Around New Nested T-Hangar" Project to Richard Drake Construction; and,
WHEREAS, the Acting City Engineer, Frank Davis, acting as project engineer,
recommends the amendment of the contract for said project to increase the quantity of earthwork
and provide for the adjustment of the water line in conflict with the proposed storm sewer,
providing for a net increase of $19,407.00 in the contract price, for a total contract price of
$115,152.00; and,
WHEREAS, the form of Change Order No. 1, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in
all things, be approved, and the Mayor should be authorized to execute the same; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the form of Change Order No. 1 to the Contract with Richard Drake
Construction for the "Cox Field Airport Preparation of Site Work Around New Nested T-
Hangar" Project, attached hereto as Exhibit A, to increase the quantity of earthwork and provide
for the adjustment of the water line in conflict with the proposed storm sewer, and providing for
a net increase of $19,407.00 in the contract price, for a total contract price of $115,152.00, be,
and the same is hereby, approved.
Section 3. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on
behalf of the City of Paris, said Change Order No. 1, upon the terms and conditions and in the
form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

Notes:
Attached are the change order forms for the site preparation around the new T-Has,gars. The
Change Order Detail shows the Water Line adjustment, but you wLll need to verify the amount
shown {or this item. Janice and Steve Hodges will need to prepare the final change o~der forms
that you use and present tot he Council.
The original quantity of earthwork was calculated using a typical section of the cha]xnel to be
filled. The actual channel varies in depth and width and therefore required substantially more
dirt to fill. Also, the storm sewer pipe required an addifion~ amount of dirt to provide, sufficient
cover over the north end of the pipe.
The water line adjustment is required due to a conflict in grades between the exist/ng water Line
and the proposed storm sewer 1/ne. Without this adjustment, it would have been requi red for the
storm sewer line to be installed at a greater depth resulting in significantly more trench safety and
increasing the length of the pipe.
