1606 RES COP INTERESTED IN UPGRADING FACILITIES AT COX FIELDRESOLUTION NO. 1606 ,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, acting through its
duly elected Mayor and City Council, are vitally interested in upgrad-
ing facilities at Cox Field by extension of existing runways, installa-
tion of higher intensity lighting and others; and,
WHEREAS, the Federal Aeronautics Administration and the
Texas Aeronautics Commission administer, grant-in-aid programs for
the purpose of assisting communities in improving local airports; and,
WHEREAS, preliminary plans and design work have been com -
pleted by Consulting Engineers Shimek, Roming, Jacobs & Finklea for
improvements at Cox Field; and,
WHEREAS, the total cost of improvements is estimated to be
$391, 957. 00; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris desires to secure all possible
assistance for funding of this project; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, That Kerry R. Sweatt, City Manager of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas, be authorized to execute in behalf of the City of Paris
all grant applications, communications, documents, assurances,
notices and other project related items in application to the FAA for
grant assistance, to the TAC for grant assistance and to the Ark-Tex
Council of Governments for regional planning consideration; and fur-
thermore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That a completed copy of all applications
relating to this project be attached hereto and made a part hereof.
