1617 RES COP WAS GRANTEE IN SHERIFF'S DEED DATED JANUARY 5 1909RESOLUTION NO. 1617 . WHEREAS, the City of Paris was grantee in Sheriff's Deed dated January 5, 1909, recorded Book 127, Page 509, Deed Records, Lamar County, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris has never claimed nor exerted any ownership right to the property conveyed in such deed, being as follows: "Part of the Larkin Rattan Headright and in Corporate limits of City of Paris, and being Lots Nos. 6& 7 Block No. 8, in the Neagle Addition to the City of Paris, and front- ing 100 feet on Wright Avenue and extending South 150 feet to N. B. line of an Alley. " AND, WHEREAS, such Sheriff's Deed does constitute a cloud on the title of property now being procured for right of way for the im - provement of F. M. Highway 1507, which cloud should be removed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, That the Mayor, James M. Brunette, be, and he is hereby au- thorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris a quit claim deed conveying the hereinabove described property to the de- fendant, T. P. Watts, in tax suit in the District Court of Lamar County, Texas, wherein judgment was rendered on the 20th day of November, 1908, and out of which the above described Sheriff's Deed originated, in order that said Sheriff's Deed can be negated.
