1597 RES ARTICLE 4477-7 NOTE AUTHORIZED CREATION OF NE TX SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITYRESOLUTION NO. 1597
WHEREAS, Article 4477-7 note, Vernon's Texas Civil
Statutes, authorized the creation of the North East Texas Solid
Waste Management Authority in accordance with the provisions
of Section 6, Article 4477-7, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, with
boundaries coextensive with the boundaries of Delta, Lamar and
Red River Counties of Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the North East Texas Solid Waste Management
Authority was duly and properly created, consisting of the Counties
of Delta, Lamar and Red River; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the statute creating such
Authority, the Governing Body of the City of Paris, whose 1970
census of population was 23,441 is entitled to appoint five (5)
directors of the Board of Directors; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris did heretofore appoint three
(3) directors of the Board of Directors; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, F. D. Mallory, III,
did nominate for appointment to such Board, Bobby Ray Walters; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, That Bobby Ray Walters, be, and he is hereby appointed
Director of the North East Texas Solid Waste Management Authority
for a term of two (2) years, beginning January l, 1974 and ending
December 31, 1975, and until his successor is appointed and has
qualified.
