1584 RES CITY COUNCIL IS INTERESTED IN TRAFFIC SAFETYRESOLUTION NO. 1584 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, is vitally interested in traffic safety; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is of the opinion that traffic safety within the City of Paris can be improved by systemati- cally upgrading and standardizing traffic control signs to conform with standards endorsed by the Federal Highway Administrator as adopted by the Texas Highway Department; and, WHEREAS, such project can best be accomplished by purchasing a sign making machine and high intensity sign material; and, WHEREAS, in order to finance such purchase it is necessary for the City of Paris to avail itself of funds made available under the Texas Traffic Safety Program, which is administered by the Texas Traffic Safety Administration; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City of Paris process an application for funding under the Texas Traffic Safety Program, to assist in financing the project entitled "Improvement of Traffic Control Devices" at a total cost of $3, 050. 00, $ l, 525. 00 to be furnished by TTSA and $1, 525. 00 to be furnished by the City of Paris. 2. That Phil Ransom, Traffic Safety Coordinator of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby appointed Project Director. 3. That H. C. Greene, Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby appointed Financial Officer of said proj ect. 4. That Kerry R. Sweatt, City Manager, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute and de - liver, on behalf of the City of Paris, the necessary applications, communications, instruments and documents necessary for the completion of said proj ect.
