1555 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS ON 3RD DAY OF APRIL 1973RESOLUTION NO. 1555
WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 3rd day of April, 1973, for the
purpose of voting for and electing three (3) members at large of the
City Council of the City of Paris to serve for the ensuing two (2)
years, to-wit:
Three Councilmen at Large
WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the
Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was conducted
and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is, one
polling place in each of the four (4) wards of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas; and,
WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly
appointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) re-
spective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns, after due and
deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of
said election, to-wit:
(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 692 VOTES WERE CAST AS
FOLLOWS:
For Three Councilmen at Large:
Joe Szekely, 209 Votes;
Nathan Bell IV, TM Votes;
Paul Wood, 27 Votes;
Billy R. Young, 172 Votes;
John P. Crabtree, Jr. , 35 Votes;
Lloyd S. Sterling, 174 Votes;
Jerry D. Robertson, Votes;
Harvey Cavender, 97 Votes;
James M. Brunette, 550 Votes;
Joe R. King, 246 Votes;
O. L. Rainey, 232 Votes;
Write-In Candidates, 1 Votes.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF PARIS, That from the above and foregoing canvass of the
returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such
election, it is declared and determined that James M. Brunette, Joe R.
King and 0. L. Rainey are the persons receiving the highest number of
votes of the votes cast at such election for Three Councilmen at Large,
and are therefore elected to serve as Councilmen at Large and as mem -
bers of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2)
years.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in
special session convened pursuant to the directions of the City Charter
of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on this the llth day of April, 1973.
