1509 RES COP IS PARTICIPATING IN TOPICS PROGRAMRESOLUTION NO. 1509
WHEREAS, the City of Paris is participating in the TOPICS
Program, which first project is signalization of the downtown
area and arteries leading to the same; and,
WHERFAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous
of having the utility lines and appurtenances of the downtown
area and any other area, when practical, placed underground; and,
WHERFAS, in the downtown signalization pzoject,trenches
will be opened for the purpose of placing signalization control
and power lines underground, which would appear to be an appro-
priate and opportune time f'or placing said power lines and
appurtenances underground; and,
WHEREAS, Texas Power & Light Company is agreeable to, at
its own expense, placing its utility lines in the signalization
trenches, so long as the City of Paris will open and close such
trenches in accordance with Texa s Power & Light Company's
specifications; NOW, THIIREFORE,
BE IT RFSOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
That it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Paris for
utility lines and appurtenances to be placed underground through-
out the City, and particularly at this opportune and ap propriate
time to be placed underground in the downtown area, and the City
of Paris does hereby agree and guarantee to the Texas Highway
Department and all parties concerned, to bear any additional
costs involved in opening and closing trenches to Texas Power &
Light Company's specifications, which is above and beyond the
opening and closing trenches in accordance with the signaliza-
tion specific ations.
BE IT FURTHER RFSOLVED, That the Mayor of the City of
Paris, James W. Farris, be, and he is hereby authorized and
directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris contract or
contracts necessary to provide and carry out the guarantee
herein made.
BE IT FURTHER RFSOLVED, That the Acting City Manager and
Director of Finance, H. C. Greene, is hereby authorized and di-
rected -to act as correspondent and liaison officer between the
City of Paris and the Texas Highway Department and b,etween the
City of Paris and Texas Power & Light Company and is hereby de-
signated as project representative for the City of Paris.
