1496 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS ON 13TH DAY OF JUNE 1972RESOLUTION N0. 1496 . WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 13th day of June, 1972, for the purpose of determining whether an Ordinance repealing Section 29 25 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, and declaring the same to be null and void and of no effect, shall be passed and adopted by the City of Paris, which was brought to this referendum in accord- ance with the Charter of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to-wit: FOR OR AGAINST THE ORDINANCE WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was conducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is, one polling place in each of the four (4) wards of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns, after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the follow- ing results of said election, to-wit: (1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 1,114 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE ORDINANCE: 344 Votes; AGAINST THE ORDINANCE: 770 Votes. (2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 316 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE ORDINANCE: 132 Votes; AGAINST THE ORDINANCE: 184 Votes. (3) IN WARD THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 372 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE ORDINANCE: 162 Votes; AGAINST THE ORDINANCE: 210 Votes. (4) IN WARD FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 698 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: FOR THE ORDINANCE: 218 Votes; AGAINST THE ORDINANCE: 480 Votes. NOW, THEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canvass of the returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is declared and determined that Section 29-25 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, is not declared null and void and of no effect. Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in special session convened pursuant to the directions of the City Charter of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on this the 21st day of June, 1972.
