1483 RES ORDERING SPECIAL ELECTION ON SECOND TUESDAY IN JUNE 1972R ESOLUTION NO. 1483 A RFSOLUTION ORDERING A SPFCIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE SECOND TUESDAY IN JUNE, 19721 SAME BEING THE 13TH DAY OF JUNE, 1972, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 O'CLOCK A. M. AND 7:00 O'CLOCK P. M., BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TFXAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING LVHETHII2 AN ORDINA.~CE RE- PEALING SECTION 29-25 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, AND DECLARING THE SAME TO BE NULL AND VOID AND OF NO EFFDCT, SHALL BE PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF PARIS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That a special election be held by the quali- fied voters of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the second Ta.esday in June, 1972, same bein g the 13th day of June, 1972, between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A. M. axld 7:00 o'clock P. M., for the purpose of determining whether an ordinance repealing Section 29-25 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Paris, and declaring the same to be null and void and of no effect, shall be passed and adopted by the City of Paris, as provided in Sections 100, 102, 103, 105, 106, 107 and 108 of Article X of the Charter of the City of Paris, adopted on November 2, 1948. Section 2. That the polling places and election officials of such election shall be as follows: Ward One (1): Polling Place: Central Fire Station Officials: Mr. W. J. Johnson , Presiding Judge Mrs. R. H. Lower , Judge Ward Tnro (2): Polling Place: Grand Hotel Lobby Officials: Mrs. Hugh Collins , Presiding Judge Mrs. Elizabeth Tompkins , Judge Ward Three (3): Polling Place: Lamar County Court House Caunty Court Room Officials: Mrs. Margaret Biard , Presiding Judge Mrs. Frank Shaeffer , Judge Ward Four (4): Polling Place: Paris High School Gymnasium Off icials: Mrs. H. L. Hollis , Presiding Judge Mrc_ Sam Ausmus , Judge Section 3. The Presiding Judge of the respective voting boxes shall designate and appoint such additional, competent and qualified clerks for such respective polling places and voting boxes as may be required, if any, for the efficient conduct of said election. Section 4. Such election shall be held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas governing general and municipal elections, insofar as the same may be applicable, and with the provis ions of the City Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris. Section 5. The Chief of Police of the City of Paris is hereby directed and instructed to post a properly executed Notice of Election pursuant to this order for election, signed by the Mayor of the City of Paris, at each of the polling places designated above, which said notices of election shall by him be posted not less than thirty (30) days prior to said election; further, a properly executed copy of such Notice of Election shall be published one time in the Paris News, the official newspaper of the City of Paris an d a newspaper of general cir- culation in said City, which notice shall be published not less than twenty (20) days before said election. Section 6. The pay of the judges and clerks of said election is hereby authorized and established as follows: $15.00 per day for each judge and clerk; the election judge who delivers the returns of said election immediately after the votes have been counted to the proper office shall be paid an additional sum of $5.00 for that service, provided also, he shall make return of all election supplies not used when he makes returns of such election.
