1482 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS ON 4TH DAY OF APRIL 1972RESOLUTION NO. 1482 WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 4th day of April, 1972, for the purpose of voting for and electing four (4) members of the City Council of the City of Paris to serve for the ensuing two (2) years, to-wit: l. Councilman From Ward One (1) 2. Councilman From Ward 1~vo (2) 3. Councilman From Ward Three (3) 4. Councilman From Ward Four (4) WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was con- ducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is, one polling place in each of the four (4) wards of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly ap- pointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) re- spective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wit: (1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 493 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For Councilman From Ward One: M. C. (Mack) Weaver, 87 votes; Doyle Whitaker, 240 votes; Jeff Hoog, 162 votes. For Councilman From Ward Two: John P. Crabtree, Jr., 99 votes; Ben M. Hinds, 383 votes. For Councilman From Ward Three: F. D. Mallory III, 445 votes. For Councilman From Ward Four: James M. Brunette, 391 votes; Floyd Bass, 54 votes; James W. (Jim) Martin, 38 votes. (2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 105 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: For Councilman From Ward One: M. C. (Mack) Weaver, 27 votes; Doyle Whitaker, 57 votes; Jeff Hoog, 17 votes. For Councilman From Ward Two: John P. Crabtree, Jr., 29 votes; Ben M. Hinds, 71 votes. For Councilman From Ward Three: F. D. Mallory III, 101 votes. For Councilman From Ward Four: James M. Brunette, 74 votes; Floyd Bass, 15 votes; James W. (Jim) Martin, 16 votes. (3) (4) TN WARD THR EE (3) A TOTAL OF 132 VOTFS WER E CAST AS FOLLOWS : For Councilman From Ward One: M. C. (Mack) Weaver, 27 votes; Doyle Whitaker, 73 votes; Jeff Hoog, 21 votes. For Councilman From Ward Two: John P. Crabtree, Jr., 58 votes; Ben M. Hinds, 63 votes. For Councilman From Ward Three: F. D. Mallory III, 131 votes. For Councilman From Ward Four: James M. Brunette, 75 votes; Floyd Bass, 26 votes; James W. (Jim) Martin, 28 votes. IN WARD FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 355 VOTES WNR E CAST AS FOLLOWS: For Councilman From Ward One: M. C. (Mack) Weaver, 112 votes; Doyle Whitaker, 132 votes; Jeff Hoog, 92 votes. For Councilman From Ward 1~vo: John P. Crabtree, Jr., 118 votes; Ben M. Hinds, 215 vot es . For Councilman From Ward Three: F. D. Mallory III, 354 votes. For Councilman From Ward Four: James M. Brunette, 180 votes; Floyd Bass, 57 votes; James W. (Jim) Martin, 119 votes. NOW, THEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canvass of the re- turns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is declared and determined that Doyle Whitaker is the person receiving the highest num.ber of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward One (1), and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward One (1) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; that Ben M. Hinds is the person receiving the highestrumber of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Tvo (2), and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward 1~uo (2) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the en- suing two (2) years; that F. D. Mallory III is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Three (3), and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Three (3) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; and that James M. Brunette is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Four (4), and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Four (4) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years. Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris special session convened pursuant to the directions of the City Charter of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on this the 12th day April, 1972.
