1448 RES HOME OF GENERAL SAM BELL MAXEY AT 812 CHURCH IS HISTORICALLY SIGNIFICANTRFSOLUTION NO. 1448
WHF.REAS, the home of General Sam Bell Maxey at 812 Church
Street, Paris, Texas, is historically significant and should be
preserved as the Maxey Museum; and,
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City
Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, that the Lamar
County Historical Society, Inc. is desirous of transferring
title of the Maxey Museum property to the City of Paris; and,
WHER EAS, the Lamar County Historical Society, Inc. feels
that the City of Paris can best guarantee perpetual operation
and maintenance of the Maxey Museum; and,
WHEREAS, the Lamar County Historical Society, Inc. has
agreed to continue its operation of the Maxey Museum; NOW,
THER EFOR E,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS )
PARIS, TEXAS, That the City of Paris agrees to accept title to
the Maxey Museum property, conditioned upon the continued
operation of the same by the Lamar County Historical Society,
Inc.
