1447 RES ARK-TEX COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS IS PARTICIPATING IN EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMRESdLUTION NO. 1447 , WHEZEAS, Ark-Tex Council of Gov ernments is participating in the Emergency Enployment Program provided for by Public Law 92-54; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris is a member of Ark-Tex Council of Governments, and the City Council of the City of Paris is in favor of the Federal Emergency Employment Program and wishes to involve itself in the solving of the unemployment and underem- ployment problems faced by our State and Nation by providing transitional employment in jobs providing needed public ser- vic es; and, LVHERFAS, funds are allocated under Section 5 of the Emergency Anployment Act of 1971, which will assist the City of Paris in its efforts to combat unemployment and underemployment, and it is deemed advisable that the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, avail itself of such funds; and, WHERFAS, James W. Farris, the Mayor of the City of Paris, should be authorized to execute applications for funding under EEA and to execute any and all contracts necessary to implement the program in the City of Paris, Texas; NOW, THEIZEFORE, BE IT RFSOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARISI PARIS, TEXAS, That the City of Paris is hereby committed to participation under Section 5 of the Emergency Employment Act of 1971, and the Mayor of the City of Paris, James W. Farris, be, and he is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Paris an agreement with Ark-Tex Council of Governments to provide unemployed and underemployed persons with transi- tional employment in jobs providing needed public services, which obligates the City of Paris for its local share of $5,774.34; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That H. C. Greene, the Director of Finance of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay on behalf of the City of Paris an amount not to exceed $5,774.34 as participation in EFA.
