1415 RES CITY COUNCIL IS AWARE OF NEED FOR CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF GREAT NATURAL RESOURCES OF RED RIVER VALLEYRFSOLUTION NO. 1415
WHERFAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris,
Texas, is aware of the need for conservation and development
of the great natural resources of the Red River Valley and is
particularly aware of the need for bank stabilization of Red
River, North Sulphur River and tributaries of each; and,
WHF~ZFAS, such bank stabilization would save an estimated
1,000 acres of productive bottomlands from erosion destruction
ansn,ually; and,
WHEREAS, the sediment produced from such bank erosion re-
duces the carrying capacities of our rivers and causes and con-
tributes to flooding of land and highways, and such sediment is
detrimental to reservoirs downstream; and,
WHEREAS, local government entities in the Ark-Tex and
Sherman-Denison Council of Governments' area have joined to-
gether to form the Northeast Texas Resource Conservation and
Development Area as provided by Public Law No. 87-703 for the
purpose of providing local and multi-county leadership as re-
quired for developing and carrying out a plan for the orderly
conservation, improvement, development and wise use of the
natural resources of the area; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RFSOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, That it go on record as supporting the aims of
the Northeast Texas Resource Conservation and Development Area.
