1413 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS ON 6TH DAY OF APRIL 1971RESOLUTION NO. 1413
WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 6th day of April, 1971, for
the purpose of voting for and electing three (3) members at large
of the City Council of the City of Paris to serve for the ensuing
two (2) years, to-wit :
Three Councilmen at Large
WHIIRFAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the
Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was con-
ducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling
places, that is, one polling place in each of the four (4) wards of
the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly ap-
pointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4)
respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City
Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns,
after due and deliberate review an d canvass thereof, show the
following results of said election, to-wit:
(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 163 VOTFS WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS:
For Three Councilmen at Large: Hubert C. Westfall, 153 Votes;
O. L. (Larry) Rainey, 133 Votes;
W. L. Wells, 28 Votes;
James W. Farris, 160 Votes;
Write-In Candidates, 2 Votes.
(2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 26 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS:
For Three Councilmen at Large: Hubert C. Westfall, 20 Votes;
O. L.(Larry) Rainey, 22 Votes;
W. L. Wells, 10 Votes;
James W. Farris, 22 Votes;
Write-In Candidates, 0 Votes.
(3) IN WARD THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 29 VOTES WIIRE CAST AS FOLLOWS:
For Three Councilmen at Large: Hubert C. Westfall, 24 Votes;
O. L. (Larry) Rainey, 17 Votes;
W. L. Wells, 17 Votes;
James W. Farris, 22 Votes;
Write-In Candidates, 0 Votes.
(4) IN WAR D FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 65
VOTFS WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS :
For Three Councilmen at Large:
Hubert C. Westfall, 57 Votes;
O. L. (Larry) Rainey, 49 Votes;
NOW, THEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canvass of the
returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in
such election, it is declared and determined that Hubert C.
Westfall, O. L. (Larry) Rainey and James W. Farris are the persons
receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such
election for Three Councilmen at Large, and are therefore elected
to serve as Councilmen at Large and as members of the City Council
of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris
in special session convened pursuant to the directions of the City
Charter of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on this the 14th day
of April, 1971.
