1392 RES PUBLIC CONVENIENCE, SAFETY AND NECESSITY OF COP TO COOPERATE WITH ST OF TXRFSOLUTION NO. 1392
WHEREAS, the public convenience, safety and necessity of
the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and of the citizens of the
City of Paris, require that the City Council of the City of
Paris cooperate with the State of Texas in every manner in
which the State Highway routes and other streets within the
City of Paris may be improved; and,
WHEREAS, the State of Texas has made it known to the
City of Paris that it is prepared to commence the installa-
tion of a system of 19 interconnected signals in the central
business district between Kaufman Street on the South, Graham
Street on the North, West 3rd Street on the West, and East
3rd Street on the East, and the installation of 12 traffic
actuated signals on Loop 469 and Loop 480 between West 19th
Street and East 28th Street and between Center Street and
Ea,st 17th Street under the Federal TOPICS Program; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City
of Paris that said city fully cooperate with the Highway
Commission and the Texas Highway Department in participating
in this Federal TOPICS Program by accepting Highway Commis-
sion Minute Order No. 64386, dated November 19, 1970, wherein
the City of Paris is required to provide for the following:
l. Preparation of constructions plans and specifications
for the proposed improvements;
2. Maintenance and operation of the signals upon com-
pletion in a manner satisfactory to the Department;
3. Adoption and enforcement of such ordinances and
regulations as may be necessary for proper opera-
tion of the installation; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TF.XAS, That Highway Commission Minute Order No. 64386,
dated November 19, 1970, be, and the same is hereby in all
things accepted.
