1367 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS ON 7TH DAY OF APRIL 1970RESOLUTION NO. _1367
WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 7th day of April2 1970, for the
purpose of voting for and electing four (4) members of the City
Council of the City of Paris to serve for the ensuing two (2) years,
to-wit:
l. Councilman From Ward One (1)
2. Councilman From Ward Two (2)
3. Councilman From Ward Three (3)
4. Councilman From Ward Four (4)
WH"r~ZFAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the
Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was con-
ducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places,
that is, one polling place in each of the four (4) wards of the City
of Paris, Paris ? Texas ; and,
WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly ap-
pointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4)
respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns, after due
and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results
of said election, to-wit:
(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 862 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS:

Doyle Whitaker, 254 votes;
Bill Williams, 343 votes;

NOW, THEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canvass of the re-
turns of the votes in thefour (4) respective voting boxes in such
election, it is declared and determined that Bill Williams is the
person receivin g the highest number of votes of the votes cast at
such election for Councilman From Ward One (1), and was therefore
elected to serve as Councilman From Ward One (1) and as a member of
the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years;
that Ben M. Hinds is the person receiving the highest number of votes
of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Tnro (2),
and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Two (2)
and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the
ensuing two (2) years; that F. D. Mallory III is the person receiving
the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for
Councilman From Ward Three (3), and was therefore elected to serve
as Councilman From Ward Three (3) and as a member of the City
Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; and that
Edmond A. "Pete" Parham is the person receiving the highest number of
votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward
Four (4), and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward
Four (4) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for
the ensuing two (2) years.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in
special session convened pursuant to the directions of the City
Charter of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on this the 15th day of
April, 1970.
