1118 RES ORDERING ELECTION TO BE HELD ON FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL 1965RESOLUTION NO. __1118 A RESOLUTION ORDERING EN BEING THE FIRSTBE- TUESDAY IN APRIL, 1965a SAM TWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 O'CLOCK A.M. AND 7:00 O'CLOCK P.M,, BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THECYSERVEASSME ELECTING THE FOLLOWING COUNCILMEN TO FOR THE ENSUING TWO YEARS. SE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That an election be held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris on the first Tuesday in April, 1965, same being the 6th day of April, 1965, between the hours of 8:00 o'clock A.M. and 7•00 o'clock P.M., for the purpose of electing three (3) members of the City Council of the City of Paris as follows: Three Councilmen at Large as provided in Section 16 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Parisa adopted on November 2, 1948, and in accordance with Article IX of the Charter of the City of Paris, adopted November 2, 1948, such Councilmen to serve for the esisuing two years. Section 2. That the polling places and election officials of such election shall be as follows: Ward One (1): Polling Place: Central Fire Station Officials: Mr. W.J. Johnson Presiding Judge Mrs. L.B. Killebrew , Judge Mrs. R.H. Lower Clerk Mrs. Everett Billingsley , Clerk Ward Two (2): Polling Place: Grand Hotel Lobby Officials: Mrs. Hugh Collins _ , Presiding Judge Mr. Hugh Collins , Judge Mrs. Elmer Dement a Clerk Mrs. Elizabeth Tompkins Clerk Ward Three ( L: Polling Place: Lamar County Courthouse, Basement Assembly Room. Officials: Mr. Don Wair Presiding Ju dge Mrs. Don Wair Judge Mrs. W.S. Biard Clerk Mrs. O.M. Whitaker Clerk Ward Four (4): Polling Place: Paris High School Gymnasium Officials• Mrs. H.L. Hollis , Presiding Judge Mrs. A.N. Nolan , Judge Mrs. Clark Armstrong , Clerk Mrs. Peter Barnett a Clerk Section 3. The Presiding Judge of the respective voting boxes shall designate and appoint such additional, competent and qualified clerks for such respective polling places and voting boxes as may be required, if any, for the efficient conduct of said election. Section 4. Such election shall be held in accordance with the laws of the Statecf Texas governing general and municipal elections, insofar as the same may be applicable, and with the provisions of the City Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris. Section 5. The Chief of Police of the City of Paris is hereby directed and instructed to post a properly executed Notice of Election pursuant to this order for election, signed by the Mayor of the City of Paris, at each of the polling places designated above, which said notices of election shall by him be posted not less than thirty (30) days prior to said election; further, a properly executed copy of such Notice of Election shall be published one time in the Paris News, the official newspaper of the City of Paris and a news- paper of general circulation in said City, which notice shall be pub- lished not less than twenty (20) days before said election. Section 6. The pay of the judges and clerks of said election is hereby authorized and established as follows: $8.00 per day for each judge and clerk; the election judge who delivers the returns of the said election immediately after the votes have been counted to the proper office shall be paid an additional sum of $2.00 for that service, provided also, he shall make return of all election supplies not used when he makes returns of such election.
