1078 RES ORDERING ELECTION TO BE HELD ON FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL 1964RESOLUTION NO. 1078 0 A RFSOLUTION ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL, 1964, 5AME BIING THE 7TH DAY OF APRIL, 1964, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8:00 OICLOCK A. M. AND 7:00 O;CLOCK P. M..~ BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PARI5, FOR TI-E PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE FOLLOWING COUNCILMEN TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNGIL FOR THE ENSUING TWO YEARS, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That an election be held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris on the first Tuesday in April, 1964, same being the 7th day of April, 1964, between the hour s of 8:00 o tclock A. M. and 7:00 o tclock P. M., for the purpose of electing four (4) members of the City Council of the City of Paris, as follows: One Councilman From Ward One (l) One Councilman From ihrd Two (2) One Councilman From Ward Three (3) One Gouncilman From Ward Four (4) as provided in Section 16 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Paris, adopted on November 2, 1948, and in accordance with Article IX of the Charter; of the City of Par~s, adopted November 2, 1948, such Councilman to serve for the ensuing two years. Section 2. That the polling places and election officials of such election shall be as follows: W ard One (1): Polling Place: Central Fire Station Officials: W. J. Johnson , Presiding Judge Mrs, L. The Presiding Judge of the respective voting boxes shall desig- nate and appoint such additional, ,eompetent and qualified clerks for such re- spective polling places and voting boxes as may be required, if any, for the effici.ent conduct of said election. Section 4. Such election shall be held in accordance with the laws of the State of Tex.as governing general and municipal elections, insofar as the same may be applicable, and with the provisions of the City Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris. Secti.on 5. The Chief of Police of the City of Paris is hereby directed and instructed to post a properly executed Noti.ce of Election pursuant to this order for election, signed by the Mayor of the City of Paris, at each of the polling places designated above, which said notices of election shall by him be posted not less than thirty (30) days prior to said election; further, a properly executed copy of such Notice of Election shall be published one time in the Paris News, the offici.al newspaper of the City of Paris and a newspaper of general circula- tion in aaid City, which notice shall be published not less than twenty (20) days before said election. Section 6, The pay of the judges and clerks of said election is hereby authorized and established as follows: $8, 00 per day for each judge and clerk; the electa.on judge who delivers the returns of the said election immediately after the votes have been counted to the proper office shall be paid an addi- tional sum of $2. 00 for that service; provided also, he shall make return of all election supplies not used when he makes returns of such election. Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in regular meeting at the City Hall of said City, this lOth day of February, 1964.
