1068 RES CITY COUNCIL BEEN HAVING CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATING OF FIRE-FIGHTING EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNELRESOLUTION NO, 1068.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Tex.as, has for some
time been having consideration and has done some investigating of the fire-
fighting equipment and fire-fighting personnel; and the increased area of the
City Limits; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris has for several years answered fire
alarms with the Fire Department equipment and personnel outside the City
Limits on calls where structures were afire; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris has recently taken into its incorporated
limits, a large area surrounding the City, particularly on the W est, North
and East Boundaries of the City, which contains an area almost one-third
as large as the original City Limit Line; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris has not been able financially to increase the
fire-f ighting equipment and fire-fighting personnel commensurate with the
additional duties; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City of Paris to curtail part of the
responsibilities of the Fire Department; and,
W HEREAS, it is nec es sary for the City of Paris to definitely fix a
policy to govern the duties and responsibilities of the Paris Fire Department;
NOW, THEKEFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARI5,
That the policy of the City of Paris shall hereafter be as follows:
That the Fire Department of the City of Paris will answer calls outside
the City Limits only as follows:
1. To industrial and commercial fires contiguous to or near the
City Limits of the City of Paris,
2. Buildings and structures only within a one (1) mile perimeter of
the City Limit Lines outside the City Limits. That no grass fire
alarms will be answered in this one (1) mile perimeter,
3. Public buildings, such as schools, churches, community centers,
etc.
4. Fire alarms requested by organized Fire Departments in nearby
citie s.
